GEC #77 Medium Barlow Impressions

Got mine ordered. Was deciding between Micarta and Blackwood. I’ve already got two natural Micarta GEC’s, a 71 and the Forum Knife 15. But because I don’t have any wood knives, I went with Blackwood.

Hope everyone gets what they want!

I missed the reserve this time, but was totally cool with it. No big deal. I’ll get it next time. I was fortunate to get a lot of really cool, desirable GEC’s this year. Plus there are several cool knives already reserved like the 92’s and the BF knife. It was easy to be magnanimous about this run of 77’s. But now these Amber Sawcut bone versions have come out and I’m about to lose my mind. That is the best looking knife I have ever seen or has every been made.:( :mad: :confused: ....:D
 
Went with the amber cut bone, can't wait to have it in hand! I haven't been collecting GECs too long so this will be just my third, but I'm so pumped about getting my hands on a GEC barlow. Barlow is my favorite pattern. Was also interesting hearing what everyone went with, but def no wrong choices with this run.
 
Game time decision went to... african blackwood for me!

Came down to these factors...
1. I have become a huge fan of wood handles lately. I passed on the forum knife, and this will be my last purchase of the year, so wood ruled the day.
2. I am a big fidget spinner with my knives, and wood just feels so smoooooth. Those proud pins in the bone can really rub me the wrong way (pun intended).
3. Variation in the wood will make me happy. Variation from the pictured amber sawcut could leave me cold.

Still, it was hard to decide between them all. I'm very happy with my selection.
