So looking forward to receiving mine. Thanks for the mini-review.

Good looking knife. How many did you end up ordering Ed?

Nice work, Ed!! Enjoy those marshmallows - you deserve them!!

I'm not sure how much a Buck 112 weighs (only have a 110, a very hefty knife) so I looked around and saw that one of the dealers lists the weight of the ebony #79 whittler as 3.8 oz... It doesn't sound so bad in print but haven't really paid much attention to the weights of my other traditional knives. ...Does this one require suspenders?

My Red Dawn whittler came today too, and it is a beauty. It's also heavy like Ed mentions, though not uncomfortable in my pocket. Workhorse is right, this knife is a tank and sharp out of the tube.

Thanks Ed, I just took a quick one with my cell:

It doesn't show this nice color red. I need a better camera!

Very cool Ed! You took a hike and I went mountain biking. First 100 degree day 15 miles of trail. I had to lay in the river for a while.

Great knife and details!

Kevin

Very nice. The picture is a bit dark but regardless, it's a nice looking knife. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, made any Marshmallow Sticks yet?

Not yet, but I will be this weekend! Taking the Troop on a camping trip hike, and the Workhorse and my new BHK Camp MUK are going for the ride :D

I'd be thankful if one of you could post a pic of the new 79 beside a 54w. I know this 79 is a smidge shorter, but I'm curious to know if the bolsters are approx the same size on the two knives. I'd assume the blade thickness is a about the same on both patterns. (??) TIA
