Nice pictures Ed! I really like the Red Dawn bone, when I saw it I couldn't resist any longer. Of course, then GEC put out those sweet Northfield versions...the Calico bone is calling me and now I'm saving up for their upcoming jack.

My GEC 79 in Calico Bone arrived today. These scales are awesome! This view shows the backspring stack-up.

Thanks alot ChrisY. Now I've got a calico coming! I was intrigued when I saw them on the GEC site, and your pic pushed me over the edge.

I admire that Calico Bone a lot, very individual. I hope they release this on other knives too. This 79 is a fine pattern, will attract many enthusiasts, but for me, it looks too heavy in the pocket. Still might change my mind though......

I agree that it looks heavy, and others have said as much. Thing is I often find myself carrying more than one knife, and the 79 may prevent that urge. Time will tell.

That's a nice looking knife. I've been giving some thought to getting one with the Calico covers.

Why am I not surprised? :)

Just go ahead and get them all, Ed. You know you want to.:D

Seriously though, I wholeheartedly agree. That Calico bone looks amazing. Based on ChrisY's pic I would have to say that it's some of the best looking stuff GEC has produced so far. And they haven't been slacking in that department either.

Thanks for the review and great pics.
Looks like a really nice knife, it'll go on the list, but not sure if I'll get around to it this batch.

Thanks for the reviews and pictures guys. This pattern is starting to grow on me a little.
Ed, can you do a side by side picture of the #79 and the #54 from the top, showing their relative thicknesses?
The thickness relative to length is my main point of interest. The #54's to me don't seem "fat" at all at just over 4" in closed length. Would you say the #79 is healthy, chunky, or fat?

Thanks for those pics Ed, looks good.

And nice shot on the Rattler!
My wife has found a few snakes around the house over the years (no venomous ones yet) and the language gets very colorful indeed.
We get Pygmy, and Canebrake (Timber) Rattlesnakes here in N. Georgia, but most common is the Copperhead.

Looks like it was more than "throat poppin sharp" there Ed, more like head blowin :D Whittling a Rattler

I like nearly all animals (including hordes of insects..) but I draw the line with snakes, they freak me. Ridiculous really as I like lizards, and they're snakes with legs, er no  If they get under your house have you ever had 'em indoors? AAAARRGHH! Bet there's no mice or voles at your place......

Regards, Will

Nice knife, but I really don't see the need to shoot snakes. They kill more pests than cause harm. Fear is a terrible thing to both people and animals :P

Wow! That Calico is purrrrdy! I must resist.....I must.....resist.

I have noticed those are selling out pretty quickly. Definitely different for GEC. They'll all get gone and I'll be kicking myself for not getting one.

Modoc, hope you don't mind, but I had to share. I blame and thank ChrisY for prompting me to jump on this beauty. The F&F on this knife is incredible. My best GEC to date.
