Fueled by all the talk and great pics of the 2011 BF knife, I couldn't wait to get my hands on an 85. When the single blade EO 85 became available, I thought, hhmmm, that's the one! Well, I jumped, and I'm glad I did. Beautiful stag, thin and surprisingly light, with a beautifully ground blade, what's not to like? I believe this to be my traditional edc for some time to come. Again, the lightness of the design is amazing.

Yup, you got a looker there Mike. Don't want to stomp into your thread, but I can't help myself, I love my 85 too!

BTW, "natural" and "burnt" stag both look the same to me. Anyone else? Mine's a "natural" but it looks kind of burnt :p

Very nice knives, fellows. Mike, I really like the slim profile of yours. Most stag knives I see are rather bulbous in the middle.

That's a beauty Jim! Still can't get over how thin and light these are. And your shade of stag looks great!!

I was ready for the same with this guy, and was amazed when I unwrapped it. Love the profile, it's thinner and shorter with more blade than my half congress! Lovin' it

They both look great guys!! I too prefer the slimmer stag usually. Just more pocketable that way.

Probably still dark from how it was transported? Burnt stag is burnt by GEC but natural stag isn't. From what I understand, they ship stag with a protective coating and the coating darkens the stag.

Damn you guys!! You made me buy one too!!!! *growls* :D Found nice one with nice some bolbous middle to fiill my fat fingers nicely but not too big being too much for pocketing. I think I like middle road with my stag: Some bulging at middle but not terribly. That way shield doesn't portrude so much as it does sometimes with thinnger stag panels. I'll prolly get it in a four weeks... Then you guys get pictures.

Once I saw this on their website, I knew I had to have it.
I am trying to order one tomorrow. I was angry when I missed out on the ebony 85, so this may be a nice replacement.

I like these and can't wait for mine to arrive.

Would've liked the earlier release in Garnet Bone as well but couldn't find one. Don't mind phat stag on a single blade/spring knife but not on a Jack or bigger.

Thanks, Will

Couldn't help but spend some quality time with the new 85. Arkansas soft stone and a good stropping, has made this one a dandy slicer.

My EO landed this morning, and I'm pleased to report that the workmanship is as nice as my SFO version in ebony, which is one of my favorite GECs. The pull is a smooth, firm 'six', the blade is nicely centered and the knife feels great in the hand. The burnt stag scales on this one aren't as gnarly as some, but they're very well matched in thickness, color and texture. I don't know whether GEC tweaked away the #85 edge denting issue on this run, but so far, so good.

It's for pinching the blade open.
Sometimes people have a hard time using the nail nick and they have to pinch the blade open.
