GEC 85 EO Stag... This one will earn pocket time.

Got mine in today! Stunned!

REALLY pleased with this one, the stag is thicker but equal sized slabs offering fantastic grip for a single blade. Pull is quite strong so the EZ-Open is not just a decoration. Can't find any faults on this one its serial No. is 4.

Bit confused about GEC's stag categories lately. Says on the tube that it's Natural Stag that has no shield. It certainly does have a shield and inlet very well indeed into some ridged and gnarly stag.

Thanks, Will

Just beautiful EO 85s fellows the stag looks better then my two blade especially on match up:thumbup:!

Thanks Will. Hopefully this means I can wait a few weeks to let my wallet recover and they won't all be gone!

Nathan

Nathan, don't risk waiting! They could be snapped up in no time....not sure of the production totals.

Thanks, Will

I don't think these will be collecting much dust on the dealer shelves. Assuming something like the usual twenty-five in burnt stag and twenty-five in natural stag with no other handle materials in the run, they should get snatched-up pretty quickly, much like Mike's SFOs.

Will - howzabout some pics?

Rick, I wish...

Frankly, I don't own a camera. Well, actually a smart phone I recently bought has one but I don't suppose the quality if I took it would be an good!

Thanks for the info on the notch. The knife and knives look great and I love stag. I don't have a slippie with that notch and wanted to verify the purpose.

I tried to resist but gave in and snagged one of these. Will post pics when it comes in.

I plan on getting one of these very soon, but you'll have to excuse my ignorance. What exactly is the difference between natural and bunt stag?

Correct me if I'm wrong--burnt stag is torched for more contrast whereas natural stag (which has contrast already) is placed as is. Sometimes the natural or genuine stag will have no shield and comes instead with an Un-X-Ld pin. The burnt tends to be a bit less expensive than the other two. All can be very beautiful.

I intended to post pictures of this one when I first got it but am just now getting around to it. I actually debated on sending this one back because of a funny spot on the stag on the pile side. I am guessing what looks like rub marks in the stag are from the stag donor fighting another deer or rubbing a tree or something. What do you guys think would you be happy with this stag or would you have sent it back?

I have to say that I would definitely have kept it. Just another unique aspect to a "one-off" knife. Looks like a nice hand-filling set of stag covers.

Looks great! Too bad the pull is rather strong. Kind of defeats the purpose of an EZ-pull on a knife. The stag sure looks good though!
