GEC and Traditional Knife Buttons/Pins

I love how they show the knives with them.

I got some very nice email replies from GEC on this, they do not include them in every tube, unless a SFO dealer pays for them to be in every one.

Still, showing the knives with the pin should mean you get one,
not 'look what you could have gotten with yours if you'd been one of the lucky ones.'

Its a silly thing, but its put me off buying any more. I've had enough bad surprises for a lifetime. Also rather ironic that the company that got me into traditionals is the one that got me out too.

I guess now that you won’t be buying anymore GEC knives I’ll have a better opportunity to acquire the ones I want. As for the pins, I just received five Pembertons and/or Templar’s and not one pin. You are definitely in a very very very small minority.

I may weaken if anything as cool as these Pemberton/Templars is released in the future, but probably won't go for 'pin releases'.

Will try for more Northwoods of course, until they start random dropping the coins/pocket slips with them! (hahahhahahah!...sorry)

AFAIK none of the Pembertons have pins. Just the Templars.
I'm in lots of vvv small minorities, it fits me

Glad you didn't take it personally. A sense of humor is appreciated. As I noted above, I almost never get a pin. In fact, I doubt I could remember which ones I did get. No harm, no foul. Just because I don't care doesn't mean it's not important.

The epitome is the Beer Scout Knife Club.
You open your 'special club' beer with the knife
Wear or at least have the pin around (secure it before you drink)
Pour the beer in the Beer Scout Knife Club glass (still have mine, excellent glass BTW)
Enjoy, Club Members!

Meh, just give me the knife.

I have gotten a few pins, but consider them pretty unimportant, even from a collector point of view. The fact that they don't come with every knife makes them superfluous in my opinion, since a knife with wax paper and tube (plus COA if included) makes for a complete package.

This thread, however, may get me to go back and see just what pins I do have. They have all been saved, just left in the tubes which I always keep. It will take some time and effort to go back and recheck them all for pins. Does anyone know in which year they started adding them?

Thanks Jeff that would be cool to see what pins you do have. I realize that must be a lot of effort for a collection your size :):thumbsup::thumbsup:

I really wish I had gotten one of these with my Possum Skinner.

I hope my #97 comes with one.

Do you have a Tidioute or a Northfield?
I ordered two Skinners, one Micarta and one Elderberry. The one pin I received with these two was in the Northfield tube.

The first one I remember getting was with the 2015 #15 Boys Knife. Charlie’s first Ancient, and New Day were also in 2015 with pins. I seem to recall seeing 99 Wall$treet pins before the latest run, though I could easily be mistaken. They were produced in 2014.

Trying to also think about when I first saw the Calf Roper pins appear. The 2014 66s?
So, any idea when the first ones came out?

Im researching that right now

Per Chris @ GEC...sometime in 2014.
