GEC Beagles

Super excited for these. Love the lines with the blade open, how the wharncliffe continues the curve of the dog leg. Square end jigged bone with a round bolster is just awesome with the hounds tooth. And the Osage looks fantastic on this pattern. http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/GEDC1990.jpg

the camo acrylic should be done soon.

So the Beagles will have the camo acrylic also, not just the Coyotes, correct?

The #18 Northfield Coyotes will not have Camo acrylic, only the Tidioute.

I looks like none of the #18 Beagles will come in Camo.

Looks like those green micarta ones have the houndstooth shield too....should look great! Excited about these....

I'll admit, that bothers me some. I'm really digging the Camo on the Coyote a lot and wanted to match the Beagle to the Coyote's handles. The Coyotes are horrible around here and my K9 kills them often. The #18 Coyote and Beagle knives will hold a special place in my knives. This is an almost exact instance for me in pocket knife nomenclature.

Interesting that the #18 pattern has so much significance for your life. Sorry you might not get a Northfield Camo.
I have a Osage Coyote on pre-order. My collection leans towards single blade Wharncliffe, so I am locked in.

Cheers
Scott

The "Viper" is a 3 7/8" curved jack with a Wharncliffe blade. And the "Coyote" is a 2.81" dogleg with a Wharncliffe blade (an unusual pairing of the handle and blade type).

Thanks for the info. I am just getting into the traditionals and sometimes the little details escape me.

FWIW I dont think that the final result is going to be square ended. I think that they just have not yet hit the sander for the last time in your photo.

didn't say the camos were.. I was commenting on the jigged brown bone photo which are clearly square ended. pretty sure the camo will be rounded like the usage orange are. click the link in my post for all the photos on gecs site.

None of them will be square ended when finished...

Fortunately! On a small knife like that a square end would be uncomfortable, especially Barehead.

I'm curious about the Northfield differences, I assume the Yote in that will be Barehead but the bolster may be lined or pinched. Blackwood is offered so that will be the Cloud shield no doubt. I wish there were a smooth bone issue too, could really suit a compact Gents' knife like this. Or the now extinct Primitive Bone..

Regards, Will

I'm hoping the Blackwood will have the same houndstooth shield !!

My collection leans that way as well. I'll have a camo, I just wanted it on both to match. Also, IMO, the camo personifies the hunt. Hence "The Beagles are chasing the Coyotes."

Does anyone know what the "Beagle Runaway Acrylic" will look like?

You could end up with red in it....or you could not! :D That acrylic is "like a box of chocolates." I'm definitely intrigued to see how it will turn out. I'm not a huge acrylic fan in general, but these two selections for the beagles and coyotes have really piqued my interest. Time will tell.

Me as well. Actually, I'm going for it, since they'll be less weight for such a small knife. I dig them both.

I love the "Dead skunk" analogy.

I imagine waiting a week might leave me short on a 'yote...

Don't kill us in the exchange, folks. :D

Looking forward to these little fellas coming out either way. That osage looks like a real winner.

Aaaarghh! I gave in and pre-ordered one (but I don't know how GEC will allocate stuff?? Oversubscription etc) because I do like the jigged bone, the micarta looks good too. Still could miss out though I suppose, but at least I have a chance! Kind of against my usual principles about pre-ordering before you know what it will be like, although in this case I was able to see the WIP on the GEC page.

Usually I'm not into those lapel pin badges but the Yote one looks sort of insolent  Hope mine comes with one.

Now waiting for the Atlantic to be crossed...the wait, oh the wait:eek::eek::D
