GEC Buttons ... Whatdaya Do With Them?

First I've seen of these buttons but I recall someone selling a knife and the ad said button included.....hummm. I don't know if any of you guys or galls remember these can hats from the 70's-80's but I'd like to see the buttons used in a similar fashion. Don't just put them on a hat...make a hat!!

You can still find them from some dealers! Knives offered and buttons included that is. I think I pinned the boys knife #15 button on one of my camp hats. But the other three are just layin on my desk right now.

Maybe they could start putting serial numbers on the buttons...
or include a piece of bubble gum with the knives that dont get a button.

There's one button in every 4 tubes unless it's a PPP (I think...pattern production premier). I may be wrong and it's one to five. They are illusive...

Edit: I should say what I do with them. I horde them away in a drawer.

I've lost or had stolen every button I've owned, I believe. I like them though, cool little trinkets.

I was thinking of doing a shadow box display above where I am displaying my GEC collection.

Never received any with my GEC knives, sadly. I'd probably put them on a cap or jacket if I had, though.

I think I only have three at the moment, but I may be wrong. Thaey are all still in the tubes with their respective knives until I can figure out how I want to display. They are always a nice little surprise.

I like BigBiscuit's magnet mod.

Of all the GECs I've had, I've only had 4 come with buttons. Right now, I own 3 of those, a #15, and two New Days. Have a third New Day that didn't come with a button. Was concerned for a minute, but good to know that not all of them come with buttons. I have one button on my backpack that was a gift from my Girlfriend's adventure to Chicago last year, so looks like the other 3 will join.

I twist out the pin and stick them to my safe with a 1/2" permanent magnet - no glue needed. You can see a magnet at the top left.

I also collect truck fridge magnets from various trades and business. I have nearly 100 of those things!
Confined to my safe and filing cabinets, they are not allowed in the more civilized parts of the house. I argued that they are "fridge" magnets, but lost my case - obviously . . . .:grumpy:!
:D
:D

I'd lose that case as well, waynorth.

Currently mine are tucked away until I assemble my knife chest.

I just love these GEC pins. They remind me of being much younger and more simple times.

Rope Knife : no button

Beer Scout : no button

Wall St: no button

Boy's Knife: no button

:mad::grumpy:

Coyote en route...... but I'm wondering if these buttons are a US National Asset and hence not allowed to be exported ?:D Well, at least I've got the knives and I know what I do with them:thumbup::cool:
