GEC Champlin Eureka Jack??

The Eureka is a pattern I would love to try out. These JBF Champlins will be some special knives, especially with the Cattaraugus handle covers, in my opinion. Are there going to be regular GEC Northfield or Tidioute versions as well?

Nick......

Yes there will be a Tidioute version ...#92 Pattern called a Eureka Trapper

I would love to have one of those eureka jacks with the reclaimed rosewood from the old Cattaraugus factory. In fact I'd prefer it over any other handle material. The connection with knife history would be impossible for me to resist.

Thanks Boggs
I wonder if Eureka 'Trapper' means a different blade combo? I was hoping GEC would make full use of the Eureka handle pattern with different variations, etc.

I think these Champlins are going to be pretty nice. I don't have the first Champlin release, but the pictures I have seen look great. That Cattaraugus rosewood find is a real treasure.

oh man, nice story. chance to own a piece of history and i'm flat broke for the time being. well not really broke, saving for a randall or my first custom. gotta plan for my b'day in july right :D

Update on the Eureka's, the boxes that we are putting the knives in will be in my hands next Wed and so will the labels!! The certificates will be in by the end of next week and the knives should arrive right after that, I can't wait to get them and ship them out.
Thanks for all the support on these. Mike & Derek

Great story, and no doubt I'll have to own one of those Rosewood knives. A damn shame they let that building go...

Too late Roseskunk. The wood ones are all gone :(

Now I am just hopefull that GEC puts out some nice covers on their version.

Scheduled are: Tidioute Cutlery; Ebony Wood,Jigged Bone (color to be determined) and Smooth Oiled Bone.

Thanks Bob, the ebony is always a good choice. Have they offered oiled bone before? Dont think I know what that is.

It is a smooth bone. They have offered Smooth Bone in the past,I'm not sure if it was "oiled" or not. They have new Blade Keys with the Smooth Oiled Bone on them, very nice material. I forget what color they call it,it looks kind of "antique". No pix anywhere of the Blade Keys.

It's difficult to appreciate the color without seeing comparisons or having it in hand.....here you go Smooth Oiled Bone............
