GEC Champlin Eureka Jack??

Is a clip blade "kosher" on a Eureka? I'd love one with the coping secondary and a clip master.

I've seen a couple older ones posted here before with a clip master blade. Can't remember which thread it was in, though.

I think those of us that missed out or budgeted out on the JBFC versions will be satisfied saving up for a Tidioute version (also all steel!) I'd just feel guilty having the matched pair as safe queens...IMHO. Can't wait to see pics from those who are getting the Champlin models though.

Safe queens? I don't have a safe.... I am really waiting very impatiently for these to come in. I really like rosewood covers. The rosewood vesion will likely not be carried often; but the stag might get some pocket time.

More power to you Ed, I'm mostly trying to soothe my own jealousy of not being able to do so!

Notice that I didn't say I would use the rosewood edition. I might not given the link to the Cattaraugus factory. Not many knives will have those particular covers making it more likely to be a family heirloom than the stag handled one. I honestly don't know for sure that I'll use that one either, but I don't have a safe to keep them in.

I might use the stag one if I can't pick up one of the Tidioute ones that GEC has announced. I will have to play it the way it falls.

Was it the Fight'n Rooster EJ that had the clip blade ?

I'm not sure, Ed. This Shapleigh was posted in the Old Knives thread by Jason (bakerg2g).

I do remember seeing another old clip blade that looked well worn posted here somewhere. It wouldn't surprise me to see GEC make a version with a clip master in the future since they have done it with other patterns. To my eye, the spear looks better on the Eureka frame.

These are really desirable knives, Spear or Clip- I do lean more to Spear on this one however.

Too bad I have no idea about how to obtain these Champlin knives, they all seem to be spoken for even before leaving the factory:eek::mad:

Nevertheless, the Tidioute Smooth bone version interests me greatly, bring it on!

That made me hopping mad. I was really hoping to buy one of these, and now they're gone. :/
I'm hoping GEC will keep with the matchstriker pull on the regular production, but I doubt it.

I believe their contact information is on their web site. Their web site was provided earlier in the thread.

As I understand it, Champlin is a manufacturer who sells their knives themselves (as opposed to selling through dealers). They have their knives toll manufactured by GEC to Champlin's specifications. As a manufacturer, they are allowed to answer questions about their operation here on the forum. As they are their own dealer, they are not allowed to announce knives for sale or to promote those knives. They do not have a dealer membership.

This thread was started by BF members. As such it is within the guidelines for posting. This thread has come very close to the limits of those guidelines on several occasions. Gary and I have had to make several judgement calls.

Yeah give mike a call. Heck of a nice guy and he will get you on the list if they still have numbers.

Just wanted to show some pics GEC has up of the Tidioute versions...

I want the ebony/ivory pair. They really nailed the pure white bone this time. But I can't afford both those and that GREAT jigged bone. Life is full of choices.

Looks a very desirable rendering and the jigged bone is really interesting. That white bone may well age nicely too.

At first, I was surprised there was no shield, a bar or sausage style, but I think it works well without it.
