GEC is Growing Up!

You have to be very careful, but it also makes a good toothpick ;)

Thanks a lot. I now know what my next knife will be.

I love the way these things look but they look too slim for my hands. The acrylic is boo-T-ful! too bad too many people on this board hate acrylic.

I'm really digging the looks of the Tidioute verson of the Melon Whittler with a long spear blade. The "Executive Whittler" looks nice in the primitive bone, eh? They have a few other handle options yet. Great looking knives.

That Executive whittler is my kind of knife. Is it available in ebony or blackwood? I have a birthday coming up.:D

If GEC is looking at this forum, which in my opinion they are, you will see some more traditional types and materials.

Ebony and nickel silver GEC:D:thumbup:

Charlie, as already stated, S.D. = Self Defense.
in some BF subforums this is a valued ability. this knife with it's 'tweaked' Wharncliffe could satisfy those guys too if lockable. looks potentially menacing anyway.
but here in Canada, we use hockey sticks for Self Defense.

OK. Pulled trigger on my first Great Eastern. Went with the Tidioute Split Spring Melon Whittler. Handles are goldenrod jigged bone.

Looking forward to it's arrival.

yikes! i just bought a GEC 3 spring whittler a couple of weeks ago to use for edc cutting and bushcraft use. Now this one is calling my name:o i'm getting out of here in a hurry.

That primitive bone looks good! Both blades are nice, but I still prefer the Wharncliffe.
Ever since I started to carry a T. Bose Wharncliffe Trapper, a knife with that pointy blade seems just right!!

The Primitive Bone is an eye-catcher, looks aged already-in the best sense.

That shield must be murder to affix....

Todays milling machines are all computerized. That mixed with a small end mill would make for a perfect fit. I agree to on the primitive bone. I'll bet it just keeps looking better with age.

have 2 exes in gen. stag but thinking about that primitive bone . prim. bone toothpick on way , i'll check out handle & make a decision then.

Speaking of Primitive Bone, I've had an itch to try some, and I finally got around to scratching it.

Of all the patterns I've seen from GEC so far, this true split-backspring whittler shows the most finesse and refinement. It hearkens back to the fine old factory knives that predate WWII in many ways. Charlie nailed it when he said "GEC is growing up!" Don't miss this one, guys.

Gorgeous bone, knife, and photography - absolutely stunning!:thumbup::thumbup:

I've managed to overlook/ignore this pattern so far, but I may have to re-examine that decision. ;)

Could someone please take a pic showing the "true split backspring"?
