GEC Ivory Acrylic

GEC did a run of 66 Jacks in 2010 that had Ivory Acrylic covers. Unlike the Unicorn Ivory, it was pretty much pure white with the look and feel of most of GEC's Acrylics. I had one and I liked the covers. I would probably get another model if they offered it again.

There is an ivory kirinite out there that looks pretty good. It is definitely more french ivory in appearance than ivory but I like the "grain" in it.

Case has used it recently in few knives. I have a single blade tear drop in it.

I had one of the 66 Jack's in ivory acrylic...didn't care for it. It was a very pure white.

Just checked that ivory kirinite out, Justin, and it does seem like it has a pretty good appearance.

I would snatch up one of those 66 jacks, I like the pure white look.

Password protected? This exclusivity stuff is getting out of hand. You really have to be in the in crowd.

It's very likely I'm misunderstanding though.

When I posted the heads up they where listed as New Arrivals and no password was needed. They weren't exclusive and didn't last long. Don't know how a dead link came to be password protected.
Sorry for the Rule infraction, but I hoped a very short reply would clear things up quickly, and not require a whole new thread.

I really hope GEC finds some sort of durable synthetic ivory substitute. It's a shame this stuff didn't work out because it looks fantastic.

Some of the gun grip companies have got synthetic ivory figured out, I wonder if GEC has looked in that direction?

Arno Bernard makes some pretty compelling knives with warthog ivory...

We put a good bunch on there and they sold over a day or so to anyone that wanted them. But there were a couple folks that had previously asked me to hold them one until they could get it picked up. So I honored that by password protecting the last two.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Didn't know you obliged this type of request. Good to know.

I don't do a great job of following everything, I'm certainly not begrudged by not getting one. I don't even think holding some when requested is bad. Why not just hold them and sell them by invoice? The password protected page just comes off a bit negatively.

Most of the time, I choose a knife based on the pattern and blade selection, with handle material being a secondary consideration. (not that I don't have my favorites) But when I saw this #25 in Unicorn Ivory Acrylic, I couldn't resist ordering one. I can hardly wait to see what it looks like in person. Perhaps I'm too susceptible to marketing, but Unicorn!
I expect this knife to be rare and beautiful and noble.

I like how the handles turned out and kinda wish I paid more attention to reserving one. Hopefully we will see more releases with ivory acrylic.

There were several extenuating circumstances; but lesson learned. They were all sold by the time you clicked the link. And we didn't simply hold them for someone on request. We sent an offer of first chance to the Early Reservers who didn't get their chance because of the shortfall and recorded those that contacted us wanting a crack well before they were on the site. But when things like this come up, we just tighten the rules and policies so nobody can possibly view it negatively or partial. So, policies get tightened and rules get put in place - better for everyone.

Sounds like you didn't do anything wrong or negative, it was just as I suspected; I misunderstood and viewed it negatively unreasonably.
