This may belong in the Knife Forum Feedback section so if someone deems it so they can move it.

Apparently I missed out on the release of the GET #25 back in early August, and of course they're all gone now, which i accept after all I missed it, but it really bothers me when I go on the for sale thread and there's a dozen of them being sold already not even a month later for double the price.

I know people may justify it saying that capitalism, but call me old fashion but I think it's just wrong and unethical, just because you can do something to make a quick buck doesn't mean you should.

I don't exactly know how to fix the problem, but just thought I'd voice my opinion and see what the general thoughts and opinion of those sort of people are.

Yeah I getcha. But I just bought one last night on exchange for 77 bucks. I guess I can talk price here. I have purchased a few at very reasonable prices. Well under 100 dollars, which is very reasonable. But you have to keep a look out. You cannot just look a little here and there. If you want one there they can be had. There are a lot out there, and the regular forum guys are very reasonable and honest. But again, you have to be willing to put in the time. There are good deals probably every 3 days or so. You have to look daily and often and act fast when you have found one. Also there are some "s" knives coming up. They are store knives without a warranty and many are near flawless.

Kinda like ticket scalpers, I guess.
I have seen several of the recent 25s come up for sale here, for cost, or close to it.

You got it but as you noticed that there are a lot of really good people on the Traditional Forum and will be reasonable. And after not too long they notice you and begin to trust you since you put trust in them. I relatively new and I have never had 1 issue with any of my purchases. But, I will say that I make fast transactions and they love that!
By the way, I think TheJon had enough.

Hard to stop when people are getting almost 3 times what the knife first sold for. With the 2017 BF Barlow, people had it for sale before they even shipped. They used a stock photo. and it sold
for a crazy price. Over 2.5 times what they paid. This was on that big auction site. Supply and demand.

Yeah it's just frustrating. I mean we all have this hobby that we love and can't we just be pleasant towards one another? Thanks for the tip about the s knives. I'm just looking for a new carry so that would be fine. Maybe it's just me but with a company like GEC I'd almost rather just support them and buy a new knife than use the warranty anyways.

Every store does the same thing. Thats how you make a profit. I get that it seems unfair, but it doesn't bother me on things like this. Necessities, yes it bothers me there. but pricey collectible pocket knives, hey whatever. but thats just my opinion.

This is a topic that gets brought up every couple of months. The longer you're here the more you will notice some are here for their love of knives and community and others are here to profit off our hobby. Watch the exchange and you can see the flippers you'll never see them posting in any forum but sales threads.
All we can do is as a community is try our hardest not to buy from them. The only problem is you have that one person that feels they need the knife so bad that pay the crazy flipper price. And so the cycle continues over and over agian. Agian you will see this sorta thread and paypal threads reappear and repeat themselves over and over. Me I avoid the flippers and anyone that asks for F&F but that's just me.

TheJon, Did you just see the Northwoods just now? There were 3 on one post . 2 are sold. 1 left. Reasonable price, again... Yes I understand your points of view TheJon, hamsco, and W.M.B.. W.M.B.: It does bother me less than before only because I keep finding good deals on here. I would purchase on the auction site so that does not even phase me. It gets me when I see it on the Forums, though. But, I don't dwell on it because, the regular Forum guys know and if you look, those guys(like me) do not buy it and often times it sits for a long time before it sells or it does not sell at all and they withdraw it.

Very well said and in so many words I meant the same. Good way to describe it. Keith!

But I find just as many if not more reasonable deals on here that huge inflated prices.

Oh I agree totally there are awesome deals here. For every 1 flipper there are countless community members offering great deals at or below cost. Why because they love the hobby and want to enjoy it with others.

But why is it ok for a retailer to sell something for twice what they paid for it, and not an individual? I don't think its any more or less ok for joe sixpack to do it than (insert knife retailer of your choice). Do you? the hardware store selling $50 case knives didn't pay anything like $50 for them I assure you.

This is how markets work. If you want to get a knife at the original factory price, get it when it first comes out, directly from a dealer. If you are chasing after a hot item that more people want than there is supply for, then you have to get into the mad scramble.

I haven't sold a single knife here but if I ever do, it will be because I want money more than I want to keep owning that knife. I will try to get as much for it as the market at that time will bear. Whether it is a loss or profit will depend on supply and demand at the time I choose to sell.

If there is someone with plenty of money who can out-pay you for something, which keeps the market high for that item, well, that is the way the world is. Become rich yourself, or accept that rich people will always be able to outcompete you for scarce resources.

Spot on. Thx

It happened here as well. "...have a 2017 BF TC Barlow on the way...". Saw this more than once.
