GEC Knife Flipping

Who cares about a few books? I'm not even going to get too worked up about how much a flipper can get for a collectable knife. Capitalism is what it is, and for some, buying and selling knives is how they enjoy the hobby.

What sucks is when someone flips a forum knife for double+ profit, when members have volunteered their labor to get that knife made and distributed. Not illegal, but sucky just the same.
Just a little cheap, Man. Leave the freaking books for other Rendezvous people, but to sell something you got for free. Come on, man!!

Selling free books is fairly sucky too.

I live in the US. I know that we've all come to believe that the things we sell each other only have the value the market assigns rather than some intrinsic, fair value. Except me. ;)

It's slightly humorous how these GBU threads manage to tease out extra people for me to /ignore - free book flippers! LOL.

So let me get this straight. Because you chose to take a little vacation getaway, you chose to sell the free books you got at the Rendezvous and sell them on here to offset your travel expenses? I went and looked at it as a little getaway that I SAVED for and worked for! So it makes a difference if you are company owner, estimator, accountant, or risk manager, or review cost reports? Why does it matter what profession you do when it comes to treating yourself on a mini vacation or any luxury item for that matter. You are selling a free book to people on here to offset that? Ha ha ha!! Ok gotcha.. I think that takes the cake as far as what I have seen and heard on the Forum here!!

I guess I Could have taken more free books since they let you take a book if you bought 2 knives. I bought several there so I could have taken many more. So you must have taken advantage of that. Awesome! Ha ha ha.

I always love it when somebody complains about how much something costs or how much somebody makes. It's just supply and demand. Been around for decades. High dollar sports players, high dollar paintings, high dollar cars, etc etc. Nobody forces anyone to buy anything.......except the government. I hear people gripe about those evil oil companies that run on a less than 10% profit and yet they never complain about the 200% markup on cosmetics or the lawyers that sue everybody and cause prices to go up. Capitalism sure beats Socialism

Naaa. Not complaining. And if people want to buy it them more power to ya. Hahaha. More so, I commented because I find it hilarious how cheap and tight people can be. Free and then sell for 18 bucks on here. I am rolling! Hahaha. Forget Capitalism. If you have to do it for a trip to Titusville, you must need it. But if people buy it, go for it. You gottem!!

I'll be watching for your free giveaways. LOL, And all your future complaints about how life is just not fair. Sounds like something I would read on CNN or HuffyPuffy news

Oh life is so fair because I am wise enough to stay clear of anything you sell. To bad you have to resort to selling free stuff to bay for your trip. Ha! So who is complaining about money to afford your trip? Thanks goodness I do not have to resort to selling free GEC books you got at the Rendezvous. Complaining?? Me ? Nooo!! I am rolling!!! I am praising myself I do not do crap like that. Never even crossed my mind to sell my book. Ha!

Ha ha ha. Yeah I am just rolling. It is comical.. Never would have thought about selling of the free GEC literature. But hey, if people buy it. Ha ha ha!!!:poop: A dumper of them from a Forum member. Ha ha ha ha!!

Why don't you send $500 to the Red Cross? That will make you feel better.

There's a reason these discussions are not allowed in the Traditional Forum.

Please address the topic and not each other. This is not Whine and Cheese.

And leave out the political references. They just further muddy the already sullied water.

You miss the point, it's not about capitalism or socialism. It's not really about the money, it's about friends and camaraderie.

Many in the Traditional forum consider this forum as a group of like minded friends, even a family of sorts. They even go on vacation together in Titusville :) Some people think making money off friends and family is decidedly uncool, especially if you got it for free. Money's not the point, the point is on the knife.

This makes one wonder what knives you bought to get three books. Since this is a knife forum, show us some pictures :) Among collectors sharing information is part of the hobby.

It is always interesting to see some submitting speculations as truths. I like their numbers much better than real life.

As for flipping - when done simply as a means to consistently take the knife out of someones hands that really wants it just to put it on the open market at a 200% margin - it is aggravating. It is capitalism, but it is aggravating. I view this as similar to adopting a pricing strategy in my store of figuring out the last penny I could squeeze from every knife. You can do it, and you can make some good money. But, as mentioned, the friendships are worth much more than the quick profit.

I get the economics aspect but we are a community. I know of many cool guys here that offer at cost or less even if it's used. Hang in there, yours will pop up. I'm surprised no one has pm'd you yet to make it happen.
