Ok so they have updated the site with a bunch of new pics of the mystery knife. I can spy three blades in the pics. The same three blade shapes used on the 79 whittler. That has me very interested, anyone got any ideas on what this one is going to be?

I'll wager a guess that it's a stockman setup on the "Outlaw" frame they have been previewing. Will be cool to see.

Edit: Looks like the liners are straight so my first guess is wrong. Therefore, I will transition from reasonable guess mode to hopeful wish mode: it's a Scout pattern with sheepsfoot, spear, awl, can opener, and bottle opener/screw driver in 440C!! :D

Sign me up!! :)

I would love a scout knife from GEC. I am going to take a stab at it and say its on the 79 frame but its a 3 bladed jack version. Just a guess.

The bolsters don't look like those on the 79. They look like elongated half ovals; think Case Eisenhower or 62055.

Ok guys, I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I'm going all in and saying that GEC is making a Congress Jack!

Here is my logic:

They are calling it the #62 Maverick - #62 is the easy pocket congress frame

There are 3 blades shown:
Clip
Wharncliffe
Pen

So I am betting all the marbles that it will be a Congress Jack with Clip or Wharncliffe main options and pen secondary. What say ye?

You may be onto something there. Probably won't appeal to me if all blades are on the same end like their 56 weaver jack.

Kinda like a slimmer easier pocket 79? I would be all over that. GEC needs to start making stuff I dont like lol

Sure looks like a barlow (-framed) bolster to me:

Has GEC used that bolster on other patterns?

What do you think....looks like it

Sure could be, especially with the blade length as estimated from the pictures so far.

Thanks for your response-- I was fairly sure someone would have a quick, knowledgeable answer; the picture was a bonus. :)

I saw this about the Maverick on Mike's site. I thought I would post it...

#62 Maverick – Round Bolsters – 3 blade – Main Clip/Small Sheepfoot/and Pen Blades in the stockman setup

Tidioute – Smooth Bolsters

Jigged Bone – color to be determined
Ebony Wood
Blue Corduroy Acrylic

Northfield – Lined Bolsters

Smooth Calico Bone
King Wood
Burnt Stag
Natural Stag
Genuine Stag
Primitive Bone

So, from looking at this photo, I'm wondering... Are these bolsters stamped out, and therefore hollow underneath, like the Italian stilettos? I sure hope not... Using a stamped/hollow bolster instead of a solid one seems like a cheap shortcut to me. :/

They're not hollow underneath. The images above present somewhat of an optical illusion. When you can see the small metal "stud," that's the flat backside of a solid bolster. The ones that can appear hollow are showing the solid bolster's rounded topside. Look at it again, reverse your brain*, and it starts to make (visual) sense.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you? (Possible!)

-- Does anyone have an overall length on the Mavericks?

*At least, that's what I had to do, to see the picture correctly. Heh.

Ah! Now I see it. Well, that's not the first time my brain has been operating backward... won't be the last I'm sure. ;)

So this will be a clip point version of the courthouse whittler. Might be a little more usefull to me anyway then the wharnie. Ill wait for final pics to see if any interest me.

I just watched the first episode of the TV show Maverick on DVD. In that episode, you see James Garner using what looks like a single blade clip point folder. Garner was a pretty big guy, so it's hard to tell the size, but it looked to be slim in the handle and around three and a half to four inches. Like a smaller Ben Hogan pattern.
