GEC Maverick???

The extension spring is a nice touch. Loose change and other stuff can get jammed in the well if there's a big empty space... not a big deal but a pet peeve and something that I don't like to deal with on an expensive knife. Some of the nicer vintage two-blade jack knives had them.

Modec, the springs you see on the 79 are what they call pocket springs. The wrap around springs tend to extend much farther beyond the bolster like in some of the pics posted.

I have six whittlers and three half-Congress knives based on GEC's #62 frame. It's definitely one of my favorites, but I'll probably pass on the Maverick variant. I've never cared much for the Stockman layout with its sheepsfoot blade spine hanging out of the handle. I find it too hot-spot prone when using the other blades. Nice looking acrylic, though.

An interesting set of blades, to say the least. Very tempting.

Very nice setup in terms of blade profiles. I can see this pattern going a long way for daily use in multiple settings; office, field, home, etc. For all you Floridians, I'm all in (Go Jags)!

If that corduroy was on a Northfield my order would have been in today...

As it is I'm waiting to see what handles they release for the Northfield's. The King Wood looks great, but I'm thinking I'd like bone more.

And I'm still waiting for the Outlaw Jack, once that's on it's way I will revisit the Maverick. I've yet to get myself one of the more traditional style GEC stockman's though, and a rosewood Northfield #66 Calf Roper may be what I want rather than the new model.

Anyone own one yet? It's a very tempting purchase. I'm just wondering if the longer frame allows it to be a little slimmer than the Calf Roper. That would definitely be a plus for me. Thickness is more of an issue than length for a knife for me in terms of pocketability.

I really like the looks of those. Especially the King Wood.
Just skittish about the size/carry.
