GEC Rendezvous 2024 Announced

I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen a thread yet. Figured I might as well start one.

I've never been to a knife show or a GEC Rendezvous in my life. I did go to some gun shows with my grandpa when I was younger.
Not sure if everything will work out, but I'd love to try to make it to the GEC Rendezvous this year!
I don't live too awful far. Certainly day trip driving distance. That being said, I may only be able to do one day. So, I think I'll probably aim for Saturday.

Who all is in?! I'm sure it will be great fun!

I certainly have nothing to complain about! It's less than 3 hours for me 🤯 I guess you get spoiled with the Oregon Knife Show though 😝 which I heard is the best for traditional knives in the country!

While I'd love to go on a factory tour, it'd be hard to turn down good food at a picnic and being able to chat with yall 😅
 
Man I wish I could go this year. I really want to be there if GEC offers an SFA pocket carver! Unfortunately, I have another trip right around that time :(

The line?

Excuse my ignorance but the line for what? I'm still thinking about heading up there sat but if it's a 💩 show I dunno.

when it comes to the rendezvous, one of the prizes are the rendezvous knives and sfa knives. the earlier spot your spot in line, the better the loot you walk a way with. Bill tried to limit the flippers and scalpers by instituting a 2 knife per ticket rule. Way back in the old days before 2018, you can show up at a reasonable time 6am and every one was basically guaranteed something nice to go home with. Sadly, when they exploded in popularity, the bad apples ruined it. There are people who line up multiple times just to dump them on ebay, same for the folks who live very close. Knives on ebay before noon. A few years ago, even arriving on wednesday evening, I wouldve been the first in line. but these days, looks like its even crazier. I camped out the other year in 2022 because I had felt like it would likely be my last rendezvous. Although I believe in the saying "never say never", sadly never again might be truer than fiction.

Oh ok, I gotcha. Lol. Thank you for the explanation. I don't think the special knife shenanigans is something I'd get involved in. More or less hoping to see a lot of vendors.

o yeah, if you're gonna go for the people thats a totally different thing. Some of them are quite interesting to talk to and make it an event worth attending for.

So it sounds like with people camping outside for 4 days, it’s gonna be real smelly inside the store. Better pack some N95 respirators.
