GEC to Schrade - a Stockman Comparison

So, I wonder how they assemble a Stockman with the Swinden key system?
I thought it had to "twist" together; doesn't seem you can do that with two fixed ends!!

Visually the two things that strike me are the width of the GEC blades when viewed from the side-at least the Clip and Spey, and the stock thickness of the Schrade. The GEC might be slicier, but I’ll take that thickness every time, as on the Schrade. And Charlie, when you start posting pictures, it rapidly becomes a very unbalanced game. Which is to say-love those pictures, the awls so crisp looking.
Thanks, Neal

Thanks Neal!!

They are just flat scans, Neal, but they do show the details well. Way easier than a camera, but less chance of creative backgrounds!!

Heritage series from the 1980s. an 8341 and an 8801.
Are these assembled with Swinden keys?

That is perfect. That’s the one I would be looking for!

Here is the tidioute side by side with the 8813. The tip of the master on the 8813 is a little short, but otherwise it's all there. I will harp on schrade over anything all day long, but dang I love these 81's and I NEED more.

The 81 looks beefier upon first glance, but it's not quite so.
Thanks for the comparison shots, Paul T.
I like the thinness of the #81. It makes it sit easier in the pocket.

I do like the Northfield "bling."

I agree, Jeff - maybe without the serial number though!

That Tidioute looks to be seriously lacking in patina. You should send it to me and let me remedy that.

Well SVT . . . .there is a very light but long scratch on the blade. You can see it in person. Maybe that's a good reason to carry and use the knife!!:D
I like that Stone Moss Green bone!

That's a prime example of the breed, Gev!! Nice somewhat random peachseed, with nice dark coloration. A venerable example!!!
Show us more of it, please!!:)

Can't let this thread disappear so soon!!

I'm with you, Charlie. I really liked the original script serial numbers, but the new block numbers leave me cold.
