For you guys that wanted the write up......it will be up within the hour in the Becker forum...look for a thread titled "another day, another thread about my bk5" it will have the how to for two different etch patterns. The one in this thread was a run, which is pretty much put the blued side down and let the corrosion spec float up and cause the trailing look. The new thread will be two other techniques which is cotton balls and full antique/forge finish looking
 
Awesome mods! Does the blueing affect food prep? I read somewhere that you can't use a cold blued blade for food prep, it makes it toxic or something. I bet if you get creative with the application of the blue, you could get some really cool looking patterns and stripes..

Straight blue is poisonous, but I've eaten with cold blue knives and I'm still here. However if one was worried, you can do the etching, wash very well, then instead of reapplying the blue to make the etches darker, do a warm vinegar soak then resand. That will make the etches darker without adding exposed bluing to your food.
