Gemini's NOW AVAILABLE!!! I repeat, INFI FOR YOUR FIX!!

I was wondering myself also.. are the Busse combat blades coated under the handles also? I think yes but it wont hurt to ask. Thanks! :)

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it already, but I don't see a reason to worry about rust under the handles since the blade is coated. If you strip it, just don't strip under the handles.

Of course I'm only assuming it's coated under the handles... but I think it's a safe assumption.
There have been a few blades offered on the sale thread where rust was bubbling up from beneath the undamaged coating. The coating greatly reduces the risk of rust but looks like it doesn't eliminate it. I give all my coated blades a good Ballistol rubdown when new and after hard or wet use. I figure it doesn't hurt to seal any potential pores in the coating.
In any case, I would think the amount of rust with the coating under the scales would be very insignificant if even possible (unless immersed in a saltwater bog beside a toxic waste dump in the rain).

I stand corrected :o well then considering that, coatings are quite the disadvantage if they hide rust like that. But you're right, rust doesn't scare me at all with INFI.

Think of the coatings as the parkerizing on a rifle. It has a strong advantage in fighting rust by itself, but it also holds oil to fight rust even better. I would assume these blade coatings are much more impervious than park, so would do a better job of repelling moisture, but still might benefit by having any potential pores or flaws sealed with a protective oil.
Maybe someone from Busse will step in and let us know - I am just going from observation here.
