Gemini's NOW AVAILABLE!!! I repeat, INFI FOR YOUR FIX!!

Here is a shot of the spine Resinguy, I have medium hands and the palm swell is very comfortable for using. This is the tg next to a hell razor for reference. I don't think getting water under the scales will hurt anything and as tight as the scales are on I don't think you would get any in the first place. Anyway here is the pic.

Sorry its a bit blurry cell phone pic. TG is on the top.

On my user Busse knives i put a very small bead of super glue around the scales to seal them off.
When i had my SAR-4 pimped the scales (G10)were removed and the tang was very rusty.

Really?? Even if it was just surface rust, over decades that'll get exponentially worse. I'm new to Busse and hope to have my first in hand tomorrow night. However, sealing off around the grip panels seems like a good idea. Not sure if I would use superglue or loctite or whatever...but a seal can't hurt as far as I know.

I have considered soaking the new handles with non-porous scales in a container of Ballistol or mineral oil so that the waxy film gets into any opening before the moisture does. Don't know if it would matter but it would add a layer of protection in those areas accessible by moisture.

Non-porous...meaning the G-10 for the most part right?

I hadn't considered it but does Micarta retain moisture long term? I wouldn't want the grip o support rust the way oxygen supports a flame.

Like scales of rust or rust color

From what I have seen, micarta tends to dry pretty quickly, if using water. I have soaked handles in mineral oil though, and it seems to hold it for a long time, so IMO the best of both worlds.....just my $.02

Oh boy! I'm nervous. Just jumped in after tonight's Walking Dead. In for the Tanker Grey and Black Micarta. My first Busse and i hope it doesn ship (get charged) for at least 8 weeks. My wife is still on my case for blowing up the credit card at our most recent gun/knife show

Same here, well actually I'm torn between the Tan and Black Canvas. Does the Tan turn into the black when it gets used heavily/dirty??

Thanks

Tan turns to a brick color quickly...looks cool...I like tan micarta...although on the TGs, I went with G10...

I just worry about G10 being slippery when wet. Micarta is naturally textured and grippy.

Brick color eh??? Wish I could see a pic of that. I'll do some digging.

Thanks

Micata is slightly more tacky...I have used smooth g10 wet and didn't notice a prob, especially with a locked in lanyard. I have in the past wrapped the handle with stretchy camo cloth wrap (same kind you wrap your rifle with for camo), works good...temporarily with hard use.

Like scales of rust or rust color

This is the only pictures i have of the rust.

Coated INFI should be fine. This SAR was used alot in wet weather and had seen blood while hunting Pigs & Deer, before it was pimped up.

so you know, micarta darkens with use, but a little soap and water and a stiff brush bring it back to new in a few minutes.

jungle green- tan micarta 2nd busse .
so will there be hollow spaces in these handles or mabie its all filled in with micarta or g-10?

Just placed my order - tanker gray with red&black handles - can't wait! would be interested to hear more about this rust issue..

I don't know if anyone's mentioned it already, but I don't see a reason to worry about rust under the handles since the blade is coated. If you strip it, just don't strip under the handles.

Of course I'm only assuming it's coated under the handles... but I think it's a safe assumption.
