Are we back to snarking yet? Because I just stumbled onto the 2014 Jeep CHEROKEE. Not the Grand Cherokee, mind you. The 1st plain old Cherokee produced since 2000.. and boy did they screw that up!

Yeah....first mistake...no straight front axle...2nd mistake....well, take one look at that weird blob of sheet metal. Designers must have been half baked....

I don't think you could mess up like that if you just half baked, Eero. If they changed a few things on the front then it might make it look better. The pontiac Aztek (or how ever the hell you spell it) and the Nissan cube still take the prize for ugliest car in my books though.

I would agree with you on the aztec and the cube looks like a toaster with wheels

They aren't making a 4.0 version of it. 2.4 and 3.2 are being offered, both apparently with 9 speed auto transmissions. I wonder how that'll work out?

EDIT:

The rear of the car looks pretty plain but still better than the front. Lol

I will be happy to never have a straight axle ever again.
And that goddamn gas-guzzling 4.0 with NO aerodynamics whatsoever - yeah, I'm all done with that too.

The NEW wrangler engine is VERY impressive and it drives like the luxury car it is (check the prices lately?).
Tried a Commando (or whatever) - they didn't tell me it comes without an engine at all, but still consumes gas somehow.
All set with that too.

I'd be sad if Jeep went away, but I don't ever need another.
The only ones worth having (new models) are now all near $30k.
feh.

Send me a Beeradashi and I'll consider this forgotten.

Well at least your not bitter about it. Hehe. I know what your sayin. The straight axles and gas suckers are fun but overpriced at best. I've had 3 jeeps. The best one I had was a 96 cherokee with 186k on it. Id still be driving it if a deer hadn't decided to split it in two by stepping out in front of it at 75mph. The old straight 6 cherokees can't be beat in my book. I've had a yj and a tj since. Fun with the tops off but not the vehicles the cherokees are. Jeeps are easy to love. But easy to fall out of love with. I get it Daizee.

Send me a M-9 and I'll consider this forgotten.

4.0 forever !!! regardless of gas mileage.. great motor, I salvaged todds jeep and made it a 97...:) also had an 88 mj and it was bullet proof 5 spd...never a problem when I sold to brother with 190k, bout 18mpg combo not bad..

Don't get me wrong. I like my 06 tj but you gotta appreciate it for what it is. On the other side of coin there's a lot of things its not. Even though its got 4 seats there no way 4 adults are riding in it. More like 2 adults and some gear. Like Daizee said. Not the smoothest ride, and they are gas pigs. The Cherokee in my opinion has a lot more lockable storage and the inline 6 like battle creek mentioned is bulletproof no matter the mileage. As far as new Jeep. Doesn't really matter what I think. I can't afford them. But if I'm looking for another best bang for the buck used daily driver/toy. Inline 6, 4.0l jeep cherokee can not be beat.
