I finally found my password!
Oh how I wish that were the case (I actually finally found time to get on here and drool over steel that I can't have)...
Been so busy I haven't even had time to hop on and snark.... I passed my Board of Review for Eagle Scout about 17 days ago, still waiting to hear back from National on the final signature so I can plan my Eagle Ceremony, which by the way all Becker Heads / those in good standing with BK&T subforum have an open invitation to as soon as I know when and where it will be.
I also did something unforgivable... I was trying to fix a light switch in the house, and it didn't work out so well.... My RAT 1 now has a chunk missing from the spine that I'm sure has serious structural consequences, and more than likely no heat treat anymore.
I won't be buying any knives till at least the beginning of summer because I'd like my drivers license before then, and I gotta take a DATA (drug, alcohol, tobacco abuse course), which seems to start at like $40. Really stinks because I kept reading about new BK10s coming out (and whats this about a BK22?!).
My BK2 and BK16 have all but fallen to disuse because of carrying issues (I started to mod the sheaths and then either realized I didn't have all the things I needed, or my mods didn't hold together), so I'll be getting leather for the 2 and 16 (eventually, not now). And with leather comes micarta or wood scales (also later). I do have a knife y'all might like that I have yet to finish modding (this one is waiting on cash for a plane ticket to a knife spa), but no pics until I get it finished.
For those of you involved in Scouting, I have an idea that may interest you. Y'all know how the BSA "uniforms" are far from uniform? I plan on making a "Camp Class A" out of a Propper 2 pocket shirt and Propper BDU pants. The idea is to put velcro patches where regular patches would go (Rank, Position, JTE/Quality Unit, etc), and back each corresponding patch with the opposite side of the velcro (soft side would be on the shirt, rough side on the patch), and obviously wear the OD green BDU pants with the shirt. And for those that think BDUs are too heavy, what about a version of the same thing from Colombia, with either pants/shorts, or (the dreaded) swtichbacks.
The way I figure it, the Propper set would only cost a little more than the current BSA uniform (figure $40 for shirt and the same price for pants, and $2 per patch at national stores to have them sewn on), and in the end, would actually be uniform. No more of this 18 shades of green and 39 shades of tan. And before you ask about the BSA strip above the left pocket, it's very simple; a name tape that says "Boy Scouts of America" (that also relieves some of the peeling of that strip on current shirts). "What about the shape of the pockets and the buttons being covered?!" you say. Is that really a big deal?
After camp I'll up in Georgia on the AT. Relatively short hike, gonna be there for about 2 weeks. Still looking at backpacks (I plan on doing some more practice hikes on the weekends between camp weeks). Also gonna get started actually working out daily. Push-ups, sit-ups, runs, and (eventually) pull-ups (what can I say, my fat ass is to lazy to do them right now).
Anyhow, that's what's been going on since I dropped off the face of BF last time. I'll try to be on here more often, but odds are I'll drop off again, seeing as camps coming up again, and every weekend from May to August is full.
P.S. Reminder to those who just skim my walls of text, all BHs /members in good standing with BK&T sub-forum have an open invitation to my Eagle Court of Honor as soon as I know when and where it will be.
