Gentlemans Folder Recommendation?

When I hear gentlemens knife, I think of a traditional slipjoint. Maybe a Case mini Trapper knife with jigged bone handles...Always classy.

What's the info on that knife?

That is the Benchmade Megumi:

Blade Length: 2.48" (6.30 cm)
Blade Thickness: 0.11" (2.63 mm)
Open: 5.67" (14.63 cm)
Closed: 3.28" (8.33 cm)
Weight: 1.85 oz. (52.4 g)
Handle Thickness: 0.46" (11.67 mm)
Made in USA

So instead of just getting something that looks good and non intimidating on certain occasions why not get a Victorinox classic or my choice the Mini Champ. You put these on your keychain and now you have a great utility knife with additional tools (especially the minichamp) that will always be handy and carry your tough guy knife with you also and then just leave it behind when you feel it's presence is inappropriate. Nothing is less intimidating than a SAK since it isn't single purpose.
Just my 2 cents. As far as non intimidating knife, any SAK works, lets face it if you had to pull one out to defend yourself you'd liably could be defending your self with a can opener. Which is why if I feel a need to carry a knife for self defense, I'll get a gun instead.

These are my EDC's. One is about $20 over your budget the other is $40 under. I honestly love both of these patterns though. Rough Rider Half Whittler. It's more of a pen blade/equal end than a whittler. The little knife clad in a properly treated 440a is amazing. Both are around 3.25" closed. The other is a Cold Steel Luck slipjoint made in Italy clad in CTS-XHP. This one has serrated blade as well. My current two favorite small EDC's though.

RR Moonglow locking Soddy

Kizer in S35 its very slippery though, $40 over budget

AG Russell Med Barlow fantastic knife that might run on a bushing, right in line on price, this one is a great value, opens one hand

GEC Buckaroo maybe $30 over budget for a user

CRKT actually makes quite a few nice designed "cheap" Knives that can pass as edc gent's. The Pazoda is one of my favorites...

Boker Plus Titan Drop 2, maybe a few bucks over $50:

The CRKT Swindle fits the criteria nicely, it's a modified wharncliffe 3.2" blade, framelock, hollow grind, stainless steel handles. I have the fluted version (bottom one), it's about $40. The blade steel isn't anything special, it's just 8Cr14MoV, but it cuts well, good feel in the hand, and the spring-loaded clip is a nice touch. Overall it feels like it should cost more.

The swindle is an excellent choice, and the grooved handle version is 12C27sandvik. I have it and love it; it is one of my most played with knives( smooth opening and very sharp).

Well, I didn't really read the OP, but I feel pretty confident this should easily fit all your criteria:

Seriously, I'd go with a Spyderco Native. Lightweight, easy carry, doesn't look too 'tactical', US-made, with a nice S35VN blade and a great design. $84.00 at GP Knives, but you could probably find it cheaper somewhere, if you look around:

If you don't mind small knives, this little Spyderco 'Spin' sprint run is on sale at GP for 68$; it's eye-catching but not at all aggressive, with a 1.85 inch blade, a nishijin glass fiber handle, and weighs just one ounce:

Mcusta range from Japan are great and fall in that category pretty well. Here are a couple of examples from my collection.

Northwoods (from KnivesShipFree) has several single-bladed options (and in several sizes) that come with a nice slip sheath for the pocket:

From top to bottom, those are the Hawthorne Jack and Fremont Jack (pictured w/a three-bladed Norfolk Whittler).

no cracks please but an OLD Gerber LST is both light reasonable in price and handy = used to carry one all the time on airtravel when that was legal - the knife is small but works well - another suggestion is an OLD Spyderco "CoPilot" if you can find one - I carried one of these all over the Caribbean as well as local - Vic's classic in many configurations is another good choice - Good luck hunting down the oldies!
