Am looking for a Gentleman's folder, 3 inch or below blade length, locking blade, and something that doesn't scream "tactical". Any suggestions?

anything that isn't black bladed and serrated, there are a huge number of knives to list. I suggest a mini-griptilian you cannot go wrong for the price or quality

Buck Nobleman?

Al Mar Hawk, the Ultralight version is very thin and light. Exceptionally sharp with a dead solid lock up. I prefer the Falcon, but the blade is 3.15".

"Gentleman's folder" implies a degree of elegance. You ain't gonna get that in a Buck or a Minigrypt.

There are still hundreds to choose from. I would suggest browsing the Queen and AG Russell catalogs.

Hey luvsogknives,

I'd go for a chris reeve mnandi, beautiful craftsmanship and very elegant! see the vid in my sig

Price?

<$100
Benchmade 440 or 707
Spyderco Sage 1
Al Mar Hawk
Böker Exskelibur II

There are tons of others. Good advice above with AG Russell's site.

I think this has a degree of elegance. :(

Mcusta is a great idea and deal, try either the MC-1, MC-2, or MC-5 series of knives; most will run you a little above $100. also, if you are willing to spend the little extra you should take a look at the Benchmade Nakamura - you can sometimes find them on the forums for a little over $100 (they retail for $170 though).

Are you looking for something traditional? Or a modern design?

Queen and Case have large selections of traditional knife patterns in a variety of handle and blade materials.

Al Mar (mentioned above) and Maserin have some very nice modern gent's designs.

And some companies, like Boker and AG Russell, have selections of both modern and traditional knives suitable for a gentleman's pant pocket.

It's a nice sleek design, but the synthetic handles and coated blade give it a tactical military-ish appearance. I'm not the OP though, and they could very well be interested in something like that.

Yeah, "gentleman's" folder is one of those really hazy definitions (like "tactical" folder!). To me, very few of the recomendations that have been put forth qualify as "gentlemen's" folders, but unless the OP gets a little more specific he's going to get recomendation that fall all over the "folder" spectrum.

When I hear the term, I think of something small, and slim and elegant, perhaps with some exotic handle material. Some examples would be the Spyderco Kiwi or Kopa, the Case Slimlock or perhaps the Al Mar Osprey.
