My current rotation in the quest for the best Office EDC:
Enzo Birk 75 D2 carbon fiber
Kershaw scallion Damascus with titanium deep carry clip mod
SOG flash 1
Spyderco Delica 4 stainless with titanium deep carry clip mod
Benchmade Hunt North Fork with adamas deep carry clip
Benchmade Hunt Small Summit Lake
Spyderco Squeak Slipit deep carry wire clip
Buck Vantage Pro Small s30v
Al Mar Mini Sere 2000

I have my eye on the Syperco Native g10 with the common 3 screw clip setup that I can add a deep carry clip to. I love the look of the Sage and Chaparral but I am turned off by anything that says China or Taiwan on the blade. And the new Benchmade 485 valet is very tempting. What am I missing?
I prefer straight edges, deep carry(factory or modified), and something better than generic stainless steel.

Those Taiwan spydercos are really well made. If you like one of those designs, I'd go for it.

That said, I keep a gmt stubby in my pocket every day. It's sub 3 inch and has a utility blade that's perfect for office related tasks. I don't use the pocket clip though because my co workers would make a stink about any knife, but it's otherwise super deep carry.

I carry a Boker Exskellimoor II for my office EDC. Its got oak handles, 2.75in 440c blade, and while the clip isn't deep carry, its not flashy and does not draw attention to itself.

Although, the blade does say china on it, so that may be a deal breaker to you.

Anyway, that's my two cents :).

When it comes to spyderco their taiwan made knives are on par if not better than the USA made knives. I have the CF chaparral and love it. Some other great options are the benchmade 707 or the William Henry edc line if money isn't a huge factor.

Take a look at the Southern Grind Spider Monkey; 3.2 oz, carbon fiber, s35vn steel, 3.25 blade. I have been carrying it a good bit since blade and compared to some of the other folders I tend to carry I forget this one is there. Here is a pic of mine next to a Kershaw Skyline for comparison.

The ZT0770CF makes for a nice looking office folder. Made in the US with Elmax (i think, don't have it on my right now). If the assisted opening scares people, you can always open two handed to baffle it. ;) Crap, just looked at the specs and it's a 3.25" blade. But sure carries like a smaller knife.

I'll echo what others have said about the Taiwan Spyders. Since you are have and/or are considering Delica's, you are ok with some models made outside of US. So far, I think my Taiwan Spyders are better than the US made models. That's just my small sampling. And it looks like retail prices have them priced as such also. Def worth a look if you like Spyderco.

But you really can't go wrong with Benchmade or ZT's also.

I as well have a ZT0770CF. I can say that it is a really nice knife. I have taken out the torsion bar and it flips really well. Very nice knife for an office setting. Out of your choices I would say the Sage. A few others have mentioned Spydercos foreign factories so I don't really need to add to them.

Mcusta, they don't get much classier or gentlemanly than those little knives. Deep carry clips if they have a clip at all.

Benchmade Valet

Spyderco Gayle Bradley Air

turned off by anything that says Tiawan on the blade.

Okay, friend, here is a list of many (not all) of the wonderful Spyderco folders produced by the Taichung, Taiwan plant. The fit/finish is outstanding, and is the equal of the Spydie Colorado folders and the Spydie Seki City, Japan knives.
This list was compiled by RAM ZAR, a valued member of this forum.
By my quick count, I have owned at least 29 of these particular Taiwan-made models, including multiples of various models...and every one is outstanding...with NEVER a problem whatsoever. Buy with confidence...

Thank you all for the info so far, I have read good reviews on the Taiwan Spyders just haven't pulled the trigger. My delica is from Japan which I love other than the weight of the stainless with certain dress pants, the squeak is an Italian slipit, I gave my native 5 to my dad because I didn't like the clip and couldn't find a mod. The sage 2 in titanium is gorgeous as well as the Benchmade valet. I took a look at the GMT stubby, I the look and quality, the pocket clip is interesting, never tried that style but I am in sure of the stubby type blade as I have a SOG mini spec elite in VG10 with a semi stubby blade and I like it but don't love it. Keeping an eye on the Damascus Mcustas though, they are a work of art. Anyone have any input in regards to the Sypderco Leafstorm?

Beautiful, may be a bit bigger than what I am looking for though, even my Enzo and North Fork can be a bit bulky in dress pants.

You know, I really like Boker Tree Brand, I am just a little unsure of the Boker plus brand, really like a few of the designs though, ie Boker Gent damascus.

I am kinda the same way with the HK off shoot of Benchmade.

Thank you Sir, will give many of these another look. You can never have too many.

I love my Caly 3 ZDP-189.. totally awesome. I recommend that knife for gentlemen carry

Yeah my main concern was the bulkiness, I work in Houston so a knife is common place but the larger ones will still raise a few eyebrows. I haven't handled a ZT yet, but as soon as I find a local shop with one in stock I may have to give it a once over. I hear the fit and finish are first rate though. I thought that would be the case with my Al Mar, but I am hugely disappointed.

You don't happen to have a pic of one in your pocket do you? I am interested to see how it rides, the Damascus ones are gorgeous.

Made in Taiwan the best joke printed on a knife.
Benchmade has great choices, Barrage or Griptilian.
