Heading out to become a mother-in-law.

Pocketable friendship, anchoring, reminders of deeper realities to carry one through significant, heart-full events.

Whether a wedding, USMC officer commissioning, or job interview (to name a few), the Russell comes along.

Mnandi if I'm feeling all formal, otherwise a snakewood white owl with a nice TTools fob.

There have been some real beauties shared for this thread, thank you.

I like the idea of carrying one that means something more than just being a tool for a special carry. I was also hoping to see a few pearls shown. And, the time pieces shown just has added to the class of the idea of this thread.

Keep them coming! :)

I don't think I have a "special event knife"...possibly for the lack of special events:D but I will post the knife that I carry the most (including special occasions):

If I had to get a dedicated knife for these days, then Jamie's equal end would be very close to what I would get (or look for at least ). Amazingly elegant knife.

Great thread Brett:thumbup: I posted this one in the edc thread as it was a special occasion type of day.

A very special knife to me as it was a gift from Duncan. I'll be back as I have a few more but can't access imageshack from my Kindle:o

No surprise for most who know me... I often choose one of these two for a special occasion.

I don't have a knife I've designated as my "special occasions" knife. If I had to nominate a knife I currently own to be my dress-up knife, I'd probably go with a Peanut or a little Chinese Buck "Solo" or even a Vic Classic. (Sad commentary on the "informality" of our society: not only don't I have a dressy knife, but I don't even have shoes I have to polish! A couple of years ago, I finally threw out the wing-tips I bought in 1969 to serve as my "wedding/funeral" shoes. I still occasionally wear a suit and wear some black Reebock "walking shoes" with it.)

I have some opinions on features such a knife should have. I'd want something fairly small and slender that would carry invisibly in a vest pocket, side pocket of a suit jacket or sport coat, or front pocket of dress slacks (is that term even used any more?). And I'd like the covers to be rather distinctive compared to what I typically carry. I'd probably go with a pen knife, which would help with the "slender" criterion. These criteria are undoubtedly heavily influenced by a knife my parents gave me, maybe for 8th grade graduation, that I carried only for church back in the mid-to-late sixties. It was a fake-pearl pen knife that I thought was the epitome of elegance (especially compared to the scout knife I carried every day); unfortunately, I can't figure out what happened to it.:(

So I'm really drawn to some of the pearl beauties posted earlier in this thread! (Another thought/image that just struck me is that I've been just blown away by some Ohta stag that Peregrin has posted now and then! One of those babies would be fantastic in this role.)

I found this Robeson in my grandfather's dresser 20 years after his passing. It is a sentimental favorite and goes with me most times when I wear a suit or dressy pants. (The book was also in his library.)

When I'm in dress slacks I like my pocketknife to be thin and light. I have several, but here are a few of my favorites. OH

I recently scored an elegant little Kershaw 5200S lockback on that big auction site for about the price of a six-pack of decent beer. Stock pics here. It's a GREAT little gents knife. Reminds me of the Buck 526 Executive I used to have (I sold off that one because I felt it was a bit too small).
