All,
I have recently taken a bunch of photos of my Herron collection and posted them online. In addition, I have gathered some articles, old catalogs, pictures, etc. and posted them as well. The idea of all of this is to create a site that will work as a reference point for collectors or the curious.
It is a work in progress and I know that it is not all inclusive or perfect, but I think it is a good starting point for anyone looking for a little information on one of the greatest knife makers of our time.:D

Please take a look and let me know what you think or any suggestions that you might have.
Thanks,
Jay

WOW, Jay. That is fantastic. I know I have more stuff around here, I'll have to dig it out when I get back from Hawaii.

Jay,

Simply great. A stunning collection.

I collect forged blades, but the late George Herron is my absolute favorite stock removal maker.

Truly wonderful.

A wonderful tribute! Very thoughtful of you to put it together and then share it. It's a good reminder that, although we tend to live in the present without much thought of the past or future, we would be nothing and have nothing but for those who have gone before us.

Thanks so much Jay. I always feel so much at home when looking at Georges knives. Almost as good as a warm fire, good dog, good spirits, and one of Georges hunting stories.

Yeah, it's been a few years and I don't even remember what I paid you for it, but I'm glad I did.

Thanks for all of the feedback and suggestions for the site that everyone has sent in.
Today I went back and added several magazine articles, comments and/or photos about Mr. Herron in the "Groups, Articles, etc." Set.
Please feel free to go in and have a look.

Thanks again,
Jay

I added 3 new knives to the site this week. A mother of pearl gents folder (I really need to learn how to take better photos of MOP. It is stunning, but does not show in my pic), an old ivory handled dagger (Not a typical Herron design) and an oak handled skinner (Beautiful piece of wood.)
They have already been put into the set in which it belongs, but if you go to the home page, the pictures are in order of most recently posted.

Thanks,

All,
I have added a few new knives to the site. One of which is a great old Model 6 from the "Postcard" catalog. I also added some additional info to some of the existing photographs that did not have Serial #s, measurements, etc.

Enjoy,
Jay

You can't beat the grind and polish. Wish I still had the #1 Chute pictured in your Avitar....

Greg,
He did not make a lot of chute knives. I only know of about a dozen. There might be a few more out there, but not many.

All,
I recently added a few new knives to the site. A great Lil' Gents folder (Pictured below, the dark coloration on the bolster and hilt is just a reflection), an old Randall style hunter and a few other skinners.

Please go on in and take a look. Add comments if you'd like. Just click on the link at the bottom of my posts and it takes you to the site.

Thanks,
Jay

Thanks Nate. I had one person tell me that the wood was "California Rhododendron", but Mr. Herron laughed and said it is actually spalted maple that has been died. As you saw by the description, I went with spalted maple.

Wow! What a great tribute to George! And so deserving. I remember when I first met him back in 1991 at the Blade Show in Tennessee. The highlight of the show for me! I remember picking up one of his hunting knives and just being blown away by the workmanship, beauty, and the balance his knives have.

That's a great collection you have of this wonderful maker! Keep it up!
