George Herron Knives Photo Site

Man I have haunted your photobucket a lot recently. I'm working on some Herron patterns. Thanks for keeping such great pictures alive.

I was going through some knife catalogs I have and found a beautiful one from 1978! I miss the days when makers actually had catalogs, this is one of the classiest I've had.

Wonderful collection. Love his Kudu? folders. Smooth lines all around. Geno Denning also did a similar knife

I recently added a few new pics. 2 model 4s, a model 10, a round butt model 1 and an ultra-light model 14 lockback. One of the model 4 knives is an older version and is a smaller size than normal. It's tough to tell the difference in the picture, but it's the one with rosewood scales and a thing hole with strap.

Very nice additions, Jay. Do you use any of your Herrons? For me, it would be hard to keep that Little Dude locked up. :)

You better believe it. The stag Little Dude with the gut hook was the first knife George ever made for me and it has seen many deer over the years, I also use the oosik handled Bigby. There is a cocobolo Bigby that my Dad uses all the time, and the oyster knives as well as steak knives get brought out on special occasions.
Obviously many of them have been used, but those are the ones that we got directly from Mr. Herron and continue to do the job they were meant for

Added a few more... A stag model 1, a stag model 1 from the tri-fold catalogue (stick tang style), a stag model 7 and a burled maple folder.

I really appreciate the photos. There was a Field and Stream article on Mr Herron way back in the day that really stuck in my head...still have the magazine. I always wanted one of his blades, but never got one. Good stuff!!!!

back in the early 90's I had a very nice convo with Mr. Herron and we agreed to have him make me a stag handled hunter for $185 IIRC. I was so dirt poor broke back then that I never got around to sending off the letter to confirm the order.

I'm still very much saddened by that. Would have loved to own one of his knives.

Thanks Tad. What year and month was the magazine article? I will try to find it and get it posted on the site.

Thanks for posting all this information, it was great to read about Mr. Herron and his craft.

Thanks for posting all this information, it was great to read about Mr. Herron and his craft. I never met him, but my uncle did and has many of his knives. My uncle has since passed away and I am trying to sell some of these knives. Is there a site or something that would list the value of his knives? I have a Herron sub-hilt fighter, the handle looks to be made of ivory, but I'm not sure (it looks just like this one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/herronknives/2252143135/in/album-72157603880639839/)

How do I price this knife and the others I have?

Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
