When I saw that there was rust on the buck knives I go the rust off and gave them away

Yeah well I’m having trouble uploading them! I would if I could.

And my girlfriend is a supermodel.

What? You want to see pictures of her? Well, um, er, I lost my phone.

You want to know if there are pics of her online? Um, er, no, she's new, so there aren't any pics of her around yet.

You want to know her name? Well, um, you wouldn't know her, she's from Canada.

Wait, what? You want to know how she can be a "supermodel" if there aren't any pictures of her and no one knows her name?

Well, it's because, um, I think, um...... you're an idiot, that's why!

Oh man, remember what it was like when we were 14 years old. Good times. But glad they're over. Long over. 😁

Just having some good-hearted fun with you Gerberbetterthanbuck, no offense intended.

Honestly, the last Gerber I bought that could resemble any quality was their early Prodigy full tang tanto knife which I got for $75 back around 2011. I would say the knife held it's value, I wish I would have gotten a Mark II dagger when I had interest back when... If I was to recommend a Gerber ( which I wouldn't) I would say go with their fixed blade line. I had an auto folder of theirs and the blade play after a year of use was astounding, to the point I was turned off from Gerber's for good... And I believe that was a model made in the U.S. Like others have stated, use your money elsewhere if you want some quality out of your investment.

Well I have carried both and my bucks always gets rust on them and I have never found rust on my Gerbers. Buck rust more than Gerber does. Also Gerber has way more designs.

Now I find this very funny. Had to laugh.

I spent a lot of time carrying and taking 25 years to wear out a Buck 301 stockman. It got used literally everyday, both in the army and in civilian life camping, fishing, hunting, and being a soccer dad. Never had any rust on a Buck. I Maryland in the summer, if you look at something down the street, it will have a blue haze around it from the humidity. Like 90 something degrees with 80% humidity. If you did anything at all, whatever was in your pockets got sweat soaked. My Buck 301 and my Buck 102 woodsman never rusted on weekend camping/fishing trips on the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River, Choptank river.

But even more amazing, of the year I spent in Vietnam with the 39th Combat Engineers, everyone, and I mean e eryone had a Buck 110 on the hip. They were almost dirt cheap at the PX, and the 110 was like a common coin in country. The other most popular PX/private purchase knife was the Buck Special. I think the model number is like 119? Lots of them around. Never saw a rusty one. And they were used everyday on our job sites all over Vietnam where we had construction projects. Even in monsoon season, where it just didn't rain, it RAINED. Everything was either soaked, or damp, or in between all the time. Sheaths were wet all the time until the monsoon season was over.

My BS meter on the OP is going off into the red.

On the other hand...a neighbor bought a new Gerber LST a few years ago to replace the old worn out Gerber folding sportsman. He thought it was nice and light, and didn't take my advise to go buy a Buck Bantam. Well, in a few months, the new LST had literally fallen apart. The pin that holds the blade worked part way out, and the pin that holds the locker mid handle literally fell out. Tossed in trash can. Jack went out and bought a Buck midsize batam, and its been fine. Gerber heyday was over when Fiskars bought them.

When you come on this forum you’re not discussing with the general population that has limited knowledge of knives.

Your avatar name is a BIG target and you are likely to get hammered because we know better. If you don’t like Buck and prefer gerber that’s your prerogative but you won’t get much sympathy here. A name change would probably help you receive a better response and topic discussion .
I don't think that is the goal.

Yeah that's about it. But the old LST's were one of the great bargains of all time.

Still pissed that my 1972 110 bought from the Ship's Exchange on the USS Mobile as we steamed up and down the coast of Viet Nam is gone. Guessing I'll probably die still pissed about that one.

That’s my avatar because my Gerber knives are better than my buck.
You still haven’t proven that and you said you gave them away. All we have is what you say no pictures and excuses that you don’t know how to post pictures. Maybe you don’t know knives either. Which is looking very obvious.

I have one of the aluminum handled hunting knives, I believe it's an A429 model, and a "Coho" filet knife made like it. They are fine knives. I also have two Cabela's fixed blades, one is a Freeman and the other is a caping model, both with S30v blades and cocobolo wood. They are excellent blades as well. And a drop point Gator folder with an ATS34 blade. I got it scary sharp, but haven't used it for anything.
