"Bull" may be right. I have heard through the grapevine that these knives are Chinese and stamped 'German Made' to give folks the impression that they are Solingen made. Can anyone confirm this?

I believe it is against federal law to mis-stamp the country of origin.

German Bull is a Frost Brand. While Frost is known for selling cheap Chinese knives, I have also read that they import German knives as well.

I have heard they were made by OlBertz in Germany. If you compare their patterns against Buck Creek (German) they look the same. I have not seen any of their patterns that match the prominent Chineese manufacturers. (Rough Rider, Remington or Marbles). Can you post any patterns that match any chineese patterns?

It is possible that the knives are assembled in Germany of Chinese-made parts. I don't know that this is the case but it would at least explain how both sides of the argument could be right.

I don't own any German Bull knives so can't do a comparison myself. I will do some searching to see if I can come up with some good images. This all got started for me when I read a guide online warning of unscrupulous manufacturers misidentifying the country of origin to give folks the impression they were buying German knives when they were not. A friend insists that German Bull and Owl brand are the main culprits. I would like to be clear that it is all heresay and I am just looking for info. I am NOT condemning these brands.

I would'nt be suprised, It's common practice to ink stamp, sticker, or odd place stamp knives with the real country of origin, while making it seem that they are from a more desired source. Or have most of the knife made somewhere else, and only have a few token operations done in the marked country.

The Gerber Coffin handled Bowies of 10-15 years back were actually made by Fox of Italy. The Italy stamp was under the rubber handle were you could'nt see it. The Kissing Crane Stilettoes are made in Italy but etched as German, etc.......

The tang stamp " Munich Ironworks" on Owl Head branded knives is an attempt to deceive, they have a removable sticker marked "China" on one of the blades , so it's possible a dealer might remove the sticker. The truth is , no deception is needed because they are very well made and should just be marked honestly.

The German Bull knives are probably made in the same German factories as Hen & Rooster, Bull Dog or Puma because they all resemble each other in terms of fit & finish and as much as I hate to say this they are too crude to be made in China.

A buddy of mine has given me several Frost slipjoints, that are stamped Germany, but Pakistan is also stamped on them.

+1. I agree the finish is not what you find on the better Chineese knives.
