That's really unlucky, man. Funny thing is, the Prospector was my first GEC with bone handle (I actually bought it partially because of the nice bone) and I absolutely liked mine, it's so far the best jigged bone I've seen on a knife.
Yeah it is gorgeous, some of their best jigging I think (other than the one thing).

Indeed.

Then why to bash the warranty which you haven't used actually...

Wow... You know, maybe seller actually dropped it or something. Anyway, they most likely were aware of that and selling it exactly because of the issue. I don't know them though, just a guess.
Ok, a couple things here.
1: I am bashing the warranty becasue it sucks. If I was going to use the warranty, it states that I am out of luck because the knife has some patina on it. I have cut some stuff, stirred some coffee etc. So GEC would not help me. That sucks. I am just pointing out a bad warranty. I can see when something is bad, I dont need to eat dog crap to notice dog crap.
2: The seller was fine, if they werent I would give them bad feedback and get them to fix it. They were good, and reached out to me too after this thread popped up. The bone issue was just because GEC does not polish their jigging enough or they leave high spots around the pins. The knife wasnt dropped, it was in perfect shape when I got it.

I serously do not get some of you people defending GEC here. I am trying to walk a mile in your valiant white knight armored boots, but I'm running into real difficulty with it. I am trying to imagine scenarios that could get you guys to join in on the GEC hate and I just cant... You guys can spin any bug into a feature, its kind of impressive.

The reason I asked is that the warranty is also not transferable. If they found out you were not the original owner they would have denied it as well. Someone else posted with this frustration a while back.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. lol Used and not the original owner, oh man, that is a double whammy.

If the knife makes oweee, return it.

GEC states their warranty clearly. I am sorry you don't like it, but I don't see it as an issue. They will take care of defects, but do not service used knives.

As it's their business, and how they choose to run it, a consumer has two options. Buy it, or don't.

I see no problem to admit. Sorry.

From my perspective, you are the one stretching to find a problem where there isn't one.
Just for fun, let me ask you some hypotheticals since you seem to think that GEC can do no wrong. I want to know where the breaking point is here, what would constitute an issue for you? You tell me, either feature or bug.

If a GEC was to break a whole backspring off would that be a problem or would that be an innovative new friction folder design?
If a GEC was to fall into pieces would that be a problem or would that be a new and valuable take down model?
If a GEC had a dull blade would that be bad or just a blank canvas for you to practice sharpening on?
If a GEC bone handle exploded into a million pieces would that finally constitute an issue or would that be a handy grenade in case someone tries to steal your precious knife?
If a GEC blade was to fall off of the knife would that be a problem or would that be their new version of an exchangable blade knife?
If a GEC came rusted shut, is that bad or just a strong pull?
If a GEC spontaneously combusts into a fireball and rockets around your town would that a problem or would that be a hot (ha) new GEC marketing strategy?

Dude, are you okay? Did Bill kick your dog or something at a Rendezvous?

At first I was interested in the varying perspectives being shared, but I feel this is now unbecoming of the porch I enjoy so much.

Please friends, remember where we are and what makes this place is finest corner of the internet.

I honestly mean no disrespect.

I'm going to close this thread as I don't think there is anything new to be added, and only further aggravation or hard feelings to be gained.

That said, if either Gary or Frank feel otherwise, I will have absolutely no heartburn with their countermanding my decision.

Totally agree, Elliott. I was just about to lock it myself.
