  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Get together at the CPK compound on November 12th, the day after the cutting competition.

The main highlight for me yesterday was getting to put faces with screen names. Great meeting everyone who showed up! Congrats to DrBC DrBC for crushing the Outlaw Cut! (He was the real winner in what was essentially a pro-am event IMHO.). And congrats to Non.Nisi.Te Non.Nisi.Te for scoring such an elusive and exquisite Osage Skinner! (Oof 🥲😎)

Beyond that, Grenock Grenock ’s museum collection/401K susbstitute plan was really cool. I got to ogle and fondle many elusive pieces I’ve only seen pictures of previously. Appreciate Marc taking the time to pack (and pack, and pack…) all those to share.

Had some great conversation with Dr Dan, as well as some eye opening 1 on 1 cutting coaching. Wasn’t planning on running the course, but glad I did in the end. Really confirmed that it’s even more challenging than these guys make it look. What a unique experience. Dan and I both did some 2x4 cuts with my Jungle Honey afterword. That was cool to compare with the K18 and Super Assassin.

The K20 is freaking awesome.

Thanks to the CPK Crew for hosting us miscreants and for putting on a great event! 🍻 Nathan’s steaks were great, but Jo made a mean pot of collard greens that got absolutely hammered. I don’t think we upset the neighborhood, so hopes are high for a repeat possibility.

I was on team Scissors for the rock/paper/scissors draw on table dibs. We got kicked to the curb, but I was still pretty thrilled to score some tasty table scraps 😎:

Did no one see the Integral dagger? Did Mike157 Mike157 make a hasty getaway with no pictures? 😞

Being an at-home caretaker for an elderly surviving parent (not that I'm a spring chicken myself!) makes it near to impossible for me to join such far and away fun events which take multiple days but Santa Cruz is doable for me in one day (when I arrange a suitable daytime sub for Mom) something like ~ 1000 miles round trip from my vantage point. Case in point, I have now made it my mission also to be Mike's bestie, little buddy and caddy at his beck and call 🤣

here's hoping next year's event doesn't coincide with my kid's birthday. If I get a sense I can make the trip, I'll make sure to make and bring some knives!

When DEK3s and Reapers are the table scraps, you know you’re in the high country!

Does anyone have the schedule for tomorrow? As far as specific location & time of the competition cut for Saturday?

I number of folks got a look at it. It is coming along nicely. It still needs a bit of work. Photos when complete! Thanks. Mike
