  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Get together at the CPK compound on November 12th, the day after the cutting competition.

Sorry for the late contribution, I am just recovering from almost 20 hours of driving in 42 hours, combined with sleep deprivation, combined with sensory overload.

It was awesome getting to meet everyone. Hanging out in the shop was great, so many sneak peeks and sightings of obscure regrinds - anyone who missed checking out around the shelves on the back wall missed the best part :D

I had to leave before dinner last night but did scarf down a red cup of Jo's epic greens.

While it was great meeting and hanging out with our knife comrades and many of their wives, I was also struck by how awesome Nathan and Jo's family are, if they were just there for the free food they sure were friendly about it :)

Sadie dog is awesome, don't believe the hype!

Can't forget meeting Scrimgeour's wife, what an amazing person and it was a pleasure getting to know her.

The knife show was great, there was one knife on the table I really wanted and to my sheer amazement I won Nathan's twisted version of Rock Paper Scissors and had first pick, I was one and done... even though I was VERY tempted to go back near the end when some great pieces were still unclaimed.

Blues Blues I was asked to take this picture for some reason, pure jealousy out of not having their name on a random knife in the shop I suppose :D

Here was my camp site, take my word for it, the location I was camped was incredible! I only thought to take a picture in the dark. I was naked when I took this picture.

PolRoger PolRoger Appreciate all the great pics! I’m terrible about thinking to stop and capture things like that and was wishing I’d taken more. 🍻

In addition to having name tags with BF handles, we also missed a great opportunity for a group photo. Everyone usually hates those, but would be fun to see over time if this becomes a regular gig.

There are more photos... It is slow going and I usually only get a small percentage of better shots vs. a much larger amount of shots that are kind of "meh" 😩

Impressions of the K18 and K20 from the people who were fortunate enough to handle them?
Just a quick impression from Sunday.

I didn't cut anything with either of them but the K18 has a much more weighted feel in the hand and I guess you could describe it as more "beastly" while the K20 was surprisingly light, quick and fast feeling. You might even think of the K20 as being kind of a "lightweight" compared to the K18 but you still know in your mind that it 20" of D3V and it will no doubt cut. Since the K18 was designed for KOD, I'd imagine that it would best the K20 against something like a vertical seasoned wood 2x4, a large frozen tuna or a giant block of ice, but for quick ninja-ike martial arts sword activity... lunging, thrusting, dodging, parrying, and cutting against a person... Then probably the K20!

I'm now wishing that I had gotten in on both the K18, K20, and the Comp Cutter pre-orders! :(

Me and Dan had a talk about the K20 and how it might do running the course

This was Dan's first time handling a completed one (I think ... there was beer involved I might have forgot)

He said the K20 lacks the inertia of something like the K18 or super assassin , but he also that that's not what this was made for

And right after that he attacked a 2x4 with it , and I think it did better than both of us thought it would

Sorry this is a bad pic

You could tell it lacked umph to blast through a lot of wood in 1 cut ...... but his follow up swings were super fast

And PolRoger PolRoger I hope we see another run of Comp knives in the future !!!!
