Get together at the CPK compound on November 12th, the day after the cutting competition.

Here comes my long winded recollection of the first annual CPK gathering. We have a year to work on that name by the way, that name sucks, there has to be something better and more adolescent that we can come up with in that time. As well as a real CoCK logo and t-shirt, but I digress. I'm gonna start with the people.......

yoko yoko needs almost no introduction at this point. He is everything you think he is and more. I don't think he could be anymore fun unless a whole lot of baby oil was involved. Actually getting him drunk may be impossible, but I plan to try next time. His better half is quite honestly the better three quarters and its proven by her tolerance for all the buffoonery she endured with grace this weekend.

PolRoger PolRoger is a true pleasure to talk with and I wish we had even more time to sit and chat. He got all the pictures, even the ones people didn't want to be in. ;) He and his lovely wife, along with their little four legged tag along, will be folks I really hope can make it out to the next one.

Conversely, there is @Mike157 who I hope to never see again. Okay, he looks all nice in pictures. Yeah, he smiles and looks you in the eye and seems like he is really paying attention to you when you speak to him. Sure, Sadie even likes him. That's all bullshit. This guy is a conniving weasel. I know because that was supposed to be my role at this thing and he beat me too it. First, he gets my dagger. Okay, well played I say, game recognizes game. Then he goes and shows up days early to out maneuver me and CoCKs his way into a knife I had already connived and weaseled to have set aside for me. That's right, he out CoCKed me. It won't happen again, I'm showing up six weeks early next year because I got shit else to do. Honestly, there is no finer fellow than this one right here, love ya Mike, I hope you know I don't mean any of the above even though its all true.

@mb Mark is tall, lean, well spoken and good looking. Someone mistook me for him once, which is funny as I am none of those things. I enjoyed the conversations we had and the unity we found as scissors repeatedly getting screwed over by Nathan in the most F'd up game of rock, paper, scissors that has ever been played. That said, he stuck with me, and, by the grace of Jo in charge of the game. we finally persevered. See you at the next one my friend.

@Non.Nisi.Te I was liking him, I really was. Then he got the skinner, so f#*k him.

@DrBC Had the pleasure of PMing with Beau a few times so it was good to get to meet him face to face. I am pretty sure he got out of the car wearing his K18. I think he cut his steak with his K18. I am pretty sure I never saw him without his K18. I know he went around the table with my stuff on it wearing his K18. Now, I can tell he is a reserved but very calculating individual. As he picked up a rare CPK to examine it, you could see the gears turning. He was less like a chimpanzee than Yoko, who would scratch his ass with them and then put them in his mouth. No, he was more like an alien analyzing our crude technology. Next time I hope we get to spend a little more time talking, but his guest was way better looking than me, so I can't blame a brother at all.

@cpirtle A wealth of knowledge due to his time in the industry and not have bad with the skins either. Now, he still owes me a sheath, so I'm not gonna drag him too bad. Chad was literally the first to walk the table after Nathan's horrendous rock, paper, scissors experiment. There was a skinner on the table. He picked an EDC. I know, right? We'll talk about his expulsion at the next fraternity meeting. Personally, I'm not for fully kicking him out, but I think we are gonna have to leverage this into some sheaths or something. Also, he ain't lyin' about taking that pic of his truck buck ass nekid. I was down at the creek with Tanto trying to pilfer some of that zombie booty Nathan has buried down there. On the way out, we saw it............I can only describe what we saw as a sasquatch, but twice as hairy, if you can believe it. No shame in that guy's game at all.

@JWNAS This fuggin' noob is a trip. At first, I didn't know what to make of him. He had two diamond studs in his ears and a monarch butterfly tramp stamp. Normally I'd curbstomp somebody like this, but he's 6' 5" so out of kindness I figured I would give him a little more rope. Then he started asking questions as he was looking and my stuff and I knew in that moment, I was dealing with a moron. So, I felt bad for him and did my best to befriend the simple bastard. I met him in the hotel lobby one morning for breakfast and he came around the corner from the elevator doing some little dance and singing Miley Cyrus. Tongue out and everything. I knew I had to kill him in the parking lot. Just as I was about to, he turned around, and I found myself again looking up into his eyes and I just couldn't do it. It was all for the best, as by the time it was over, he had made himself part of the fabric and is a welcome addition to the neighborhood as every village needs an idiot. Have a great time in Nashville brother!

Speaking of idiots, @Finedirk was there too. Now some of you know him in person, but most of you just know the online persona. You know, the one that is well spoken, provides thought inspiring commentary when it suits him and funny nonsense any other time. Yes, he is a lawyer, Nathan's in fact, or so it has been said. However, when you meet him in person, you are face to face with a 14 year old delinquent who is trapped in a 23 year old's body who has a 43 year old's birth certificate, a wife and a couple of kids. Yes, he still is a lawyer, but now you find yourself saying more like "HE is a fucking lawyer?!?!" I can't imagine having one of these without him in attendance though, and I hope that I am able to be there anytime he is.

I don't know if Bennie and Bo get on here much, but they are both fine fellas I am glad I got to meet them. The Daisy Dukes aren't just for fun on cut days either. Nope, Ben showed up to work in them on Monday.

@CPK Mark might be one of the most genuine and humble individuals I have met. I likely spent as much time if not more talking with him as I did anyone else. I feel like I got a really good peak into how he approaches his work. Thank you Mark, I really enjoyed it. Like others, I appreciated the chance to meet your wife and hope to see her again on the next go around.

Finally, the Carothers and their extended families. Their parents, the kids, the dogs, not a finer group of folks and animals to be found. Even Sadie, she is a gem, Nathan has been lying to us for years. Not that she doesn't bite him, just that he desperately deserves it every time it happens.

Now, the last two. @Jo the Machinist is 100% everything that you have seen said about her on here that wasn't posted by anyone named Nathan and more. I can say for a fact, she does not have the heart of an angel in a jar on her desk as we have been led to believe. I know because I rummaged all through her work area looking for anything I couldn't live without. I did find the angel's heart to be planted securely in her chest however. Jo is the calm among the chaos. If you want to know how or why something works, ask Nathan. If you actually want work to be done, ask Jo. Thank you for everything Jo this weekend Jo, you are the absolute best.

Lastly, Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist ......... eh, he was there.

In summary, I don't think there is a finer group of people than those that make, use and collect this brand of knives. To those named above, and those who I missed, I feel I am better for having met you all and consider myself very lucky to have found myself among you. I will eagerly await the next opportunity to see everyone again.

Epic summary and confirms all my suspicions, and then some, about this group of degenerate denizens. This actually has me seriously considering the 1,980 mile drive (one way) next year, or whenever this CoCK-fest congregates again.

I think maybe one of the more underrated aspects of the weekend was Yoko's amazing beer selection. I don't know how many people had the opportunity to really peruse it and try some of it out but Yoko brought down some amazing amazing beers for us to all enjoy. CPK gave him a budget and sent him on a mission and he brought back a feast of amazing beer. I didn't do a very good job of getting the beer and wet bar and cigars laid out, but this was our first attempt at this and I really had my hands full. Maybe next year things will be a little slower paced and some of y'all that appreciate good beer will get a chance to try some of Yokos selections. These really are fantastic.

Next year the new cut benches will have already been built and I'm going to have the blade sports cut here at the compound instead of at the festival in Gastonia. That's going to leave me a little more time to dial in some of these details so that next year's festivities can be even better.

But, for our first attempt at an event of this nature, this was absolutely epic. Thank you everyone who came out. I know it took some travel expenses and some time out of your week but getting everybody here was really cool and the whole weekend had a really positive vibe. And folks who had the opportunity to participate in a Blade sports style cut and play with some of these swords have a new cool life experience.

I don't know if I mentioned it earlier, but Grenock does not have a neck. He's literally a seething ball of meat. Terrifying.

Everybody ate the hell out of their steaks on Sunday. We devoured $1,000 of meat. But we had some turkey left over on Saturday? I'm not sure if everybody appreciated the way I cooked the neck, gizzard and giblets?

It was an honor!

Like said before I would hang out with anyone I've met this weekend!!!

The look Grenock Grenock gave me after 1v1 rock paper scissors was terrifying though

First time to attend a blade cutting competition of any kind and I’m glad I was there,
I only made it there on Sunday and I couldn’t stay for dinner but I really enjoyed talking knives and seeing them in action. I’m new to the knife world and I’m very happy with the DEK1 and DEK2 that I was able to take home. The pictures from the show are great and thank you for taking them, some are quite exceptional,
And yeah, that turkey is something else 😂😂😂

The steaks were epic boss, thank you. I also appreciate the folks who left early, leaving me their share, I think I ate four.

A pic from my wife's phone of Nathan touching up the edge of a chopper sometime before the competition. He has a hanging jig that he attaches the knife to and uses the belt grinder. I also saw him using a couple of large bench stones to strop the edge and remove the raised burr.
