Get together at the CPK compound on November 12th, the day after the cutting competition.

A competition chopper would be very competitive as would a K-18. Actually, a K-18 would be incredibly competitive. An HDFK is going to struggle in the 2x4 chop, hanging rope cut, and pretty much all of the cuts when compared to a race knife or a competition sword. You are welcome to run whatever you would like. It is a run what you brung. Bring a chainsaw, I don't care.

(Jo says not to bring a chainsaw, she doesn't want you tearing up the cut bench)

But a chainsaw is not going to be competitive in the straw cut or the tomatoes or hanging rope etc.

Y'all are welcome to borrow my K20 or the shop K18.

I sold the K20 as being a weapon not a gardening tool and not to use it to chop wood. But I've been beating the crap out of mine and despite having been taking down to .016 at the edge before sharpening, it's holding up just fine, including some wonky cuts. It is designed as a meat eating weapon, but.. you know... Delta 3V

So y'all are welcome to borrow that as well
I'm VERY much wishing that I could join more than ever now

Well I was considering bringing my CPK racing chopper, not that I have much in the way of skills, or coordination, but, now, maybe I’ll just watch and enjoy. 🤣🤣🤣. Mike

I very much lack skill or coordination...... but it is soooooo fun!!!!!!

I say bring your race knife and have a blast you'll have a chance to run it through a course yourself and I bet you won't regret it!!!!!!!

I’m just spectating Mike. I am overly competitive and have never attempted one of those courses before. With a D2 skinner on the line, it would only end up with me chopping my own balls off at worst or burying a blade in my thigh at best, but there would be bleeding in any case.

I am also speculating here...but I think there may be an equal level of danger if trying to keep up with yoko yoko in the parking lot.

Don’t worry, I plan on spectating with regard to that too, but by his side the whole time. Stranger in a strange land, I’ll be keeping my shit together and my wits about me, you know where I am coming from on that.

I’m right there with you Marc - on the stretcher 🤣. Well, hopefully not. I’m thinking maybe Nate will take a bribe, for that skinner?😊

I can see Yoko coming in like wild helicopter, wielding that K20. With all this talk of flying, sharp, steel, it may be best to use yellow caution tape to cordon off a 50 yard safety zone around the competition area🤣

I am coming well prepared. However, instead of competing against each other, we would likely succeed if we worked together. We would just have to work out custody. Something like with you during the week, with me every weekend, or with you while school is in and I have it over Christmas break and summer vacation? I think we could do it, people make it work with kids all the time and they don’t even like each other when they do.

I was gonna sit it out too. But Skinner. But but but Dan and Bennie and Jo!!? Lol - oh well. It’ll be fun to see the elusive Skinner at least.

Thinking about trying the course with my Jungle Honey…not sure it has the oomph for 2x4 cuts tho.

I hope that everybody will cut. We're just trying to have fun here and have a good experience for everyone. We'll keep things loose. I know that most normal people get performance anxiety competing and feel uncomfortable in front of new folks that they don't know well (and that's not fun) but I think it's going to be a fun time. I really want this to be a fun time and I want you guys, my customers (who I appreciate so much), to enjoy yourselves and have a nice time here. That really is my goal with this.

Maybe we'll do two cuts. One for folks that are trying to win a prize and then another cut for folks who just want to screw around and have fun.

There's going to need to be an entry fee for the competitive cut to pay for the materials and the prize.

I'm not sure the best way to go about this. My goal here is to get everybody (Blade sports people and CPK people and maybe even a few industry people) together and have fun. I'm not trying to make a profit from this, but I'll recoup some of the expenses for the cut materials and food.

I also want to treat my customers to a nice meal. I think we will bring in a bunch of different foods to eat but if someone's flying all the way across the country to hang out with us, cut and just play around with some knives and then come to the knife show to purchase some knives, I would like to treat y'all to some of my delicious steaks.

Those are filet mignon. Look at the marbling and marvel. My neighbor, Dr. Bradley Mills, makes what I believe might be some of the best beef that can be eaten here in the United States. I feel like he's building a Kobe beef cow from scratch. He's a smart man and he's working on developing beef as if he were developing a cure for cancer. That absolutely world class meat and Nate's famous "not quite dry rub" might be the best steak you ever have in your life. I want to feed you guys. This get together is going to be epic. Because Eric Sharp will be there and he's going to dance for us.

We have three campsites here on the "compound". Mooresville has lots of quality accommodations without the Atlanta Blade show price gouging. Good hotels and quality restaurants (get a reservation at Epic Chop House. It's epic. And there is also very good sushi right up the road). If you are a racing fan, Mooresville is the home of NASCAR and lots of race teams, they give tours and we have the NASCAR museum a few miles from our shop. Lake Norman is 1 mile from here and it is a fantastic lake. Rent a boat, go fishing. Lake Norman Park is about 2,000 acres of hiking, and it's about 6 mi away. There will be a wet bar here at the compound, food, the tiny blade show, and we're going to cut a bunch of stuff. Between Blade sports and the CPK fans, I would like to think this will be a quality time for folks who want to come hang out. I figure 10 or 20 people? Maybe 30? Some folks will come and go on Saturday, some folks will come in on Sunday and leave on Monday. But the idea here is a low-key get together with some high quality people that most of us have met on the internet but not met in person and play with some of the best knives in the world. And I will feed you and get you drunk. If you want. And a campfire. Because why not.

It sounds like a great way to spend the weekend. Good people, good food, and some fun with sharp objects thrown in. I can't make it this time, but I hope it goes well and maybe becomes an annual thing that I can come next time. 👍🍻

I can see it now ... fog machine running ... spotlights circling in the fog ... Eye of the Tiger starts blaring loudly as Yoko throws open his truck door and makes his entrance ... takes a few steps towards the course ... then you hear Sadie growl as she chases him back to his truck ... from somewhere in the fog you hear Nathan yell ... "see I told you all !!!"
