Dave, I've always liked Queen's winterbottom jigging.

Here's a Catt. with Indian Trail jigging, which is now called worm-groove jigging. Some of them used potassium permanganate to burn stag or bone, but too much would cause it to flake.

Thanks, gentlemen. I'd like to try my hand at checkering a wood (or smooth bone) handle sometime.
