getting a virus warning as I log in to BF.

OK so I am only getting the warning from FireFox, latest version, and I am running Windows 7 Pro and Avast AV. So that must be the Google thing. When I log on with IE 9 I have no warning what so ever. As far as I am concerned there is just a little glitch in the system.

The warning is a Google thing. Google keeps a database of sites that may harm your computer. I guess since this has been happening, Google has become aware of it and has flagged it as a potentially harmful site. Your computer may or may not get attacked; the warning is just a warning.

However, if your own computer's antivirus is telling you that you have a virus, then you definitely have problems. That's not a glitch.

Wonder if you delete google toolbar?? Or it may be intact in Firefox?

I get a green light from my AV, and the warning only happens on FireFox. I am guessing that even though there appears to be no problem with BFC, it may take a while to get the warning cleared from the Google list.

I tried following a google link to BF and it wouldn't let me in. It says:

Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!

And doesn't even give you the option of continuing.

I too tried coming to BF with Google Chrome and it said the same thing.

I'm currently using Internet Explorer with Norton, but haven't run into any problems with it.

I am convinced there is no threat so I simply uncheck "block reported attack sites" in FF and I'm O.K. If I don't, I cannot access with FF period.

no more problems here... I'm using avast, malwarebites, mozilla....

I'm assuming the problems resolved, earlier site was down..

I will try my other computer, clear it and see what happens.... and report

I also got a warning when attempting to open the BF site. I'm using Firefox and it appears that this is a warning from Google Safe Browsing API (http://code.google.com/apis/safebrowsing/)

After clicking on the link to view the details it indicated that no malware or threats had been found on this site within the last 90 days so I'm not sure how it made the mistake and flagged the site.
Anyways, it allowed me to simply click ignore (although the link was very tiny and kinda hidden) and proceed to the site

Spark,

Don't know if it helps any, but I have the site "remember me", so I bypass the log in in page when I visit the site. No warnings or threat notices so far. Being Platunum, no ads for me. IE8 and Norton. Ran Spybot & Malwarebytes last night and today, no negative results/clean system.

Exactly the same setup, except I'm Gold. I've seen no warnings of any kind.

I'm on a mac and just started getting the warning today while using Firefox. Right now I'm using Safari and everything is fine.

I logged out and shut down Firefox again, clearing the cookies.
Restarted Firefox. Went to BF log in screen. Still got the AVAST warning.

I'm going to run a full scan on my machine to make sure it is not some residual thing.

edited to add: the smiley is because the actual letters are ":" and "D" next to each other, which the system is interpreting as a smiley.

Much to my dismay, I followed the advice in this thread to log off and then log back in. The warning continued after logging off.

When I tried to log back in, hitting submit caused the warning to fire, and after hitting "ignore" it would take me to the main page but would not log me in. That meant that I was locked out because of this thing.

I fought with it for about an hour when I finally went to the following place in the menu for Safari for mac: Safari>Preferences. Under the "Security" tab, there is a line that says "Fraudulent Sites: [ ] Warn when visiting a fraudulent website". I deselected the checkmark in the middle of that line and I now have access to the website and no warnings appear.

I don't know what this check box does or what it means in the grand scheme of things, but it might be another clue to unravelling the mystery.

I use IE and FF with Kaspersky as my anti-virus. I can't even get to BF with FF and with IE Every time I load a new page I get a bunch of warnings from my anti virus.
