Getting ignored when trying to buy something....

I don't really know what to do right now... There is a knife I'm very much interested in purchasing on the forum but the seller is just ignoring my posts. I've taken to getting a fellow member PM him on my behalf as I don't have a membership. Kinda lost as to what to do as I'm set on getting my hands on it.

As a rule I try not to expect a response within 24 hours. Some people get busy and won't have an opportunity to check their listing all that often.

I don't know your specific predicament, I've just learned not to be too impatient when trying to deal on this site. Hopefully you'll hear back soon.

Post on the thread “I will take it” and hopefully he will respond. Keep in mind at the end of the day the seller can chose to whom to sell. Be patient.

A lot of times when I'm trying to get a sales post together I have things that interfere, so just as soon as the listing goes up I jump up and do other stuff, and then come back and check in as I'm able. Hopefully this is what happened, and he has just been pulled away for a bit and gets back to you. I know it's hard to be patient when there's a listing that you really want, but get that 'i'll take it' in there and hope for the best. Good luck!

ETA: offers in the thread, proxy shipping, etc might be putting him off. Some folks will get back to you, but not everyone. They don't always work out, if he doesn't get back with you, best to let it go.

Making an offer in the thread is not the same as "I will take it" . Proxy buyer sales don't always go very well and can become problematic. Less than a month on the forum... lots of "red flags" for a seller. Then there is this thread ...

I understand those parts, but curious what is wrong with my post? Something I'm not gathering?

Thanks! Trying to be. It's been a couple of days now

I do not claim to know the reason the seller is not getting back to you, however I did see that in the thread you offered to buy at a price lower then the stated selling price. Some sellers may not appreciate that & in my opinion offers of that nature should not be done in the thread but done privately through Private Message or email.

I see. Thanks. Trying to understand the environment around the forums a little better, by no means am I trying to do anything wrong, so I do appreciate everyone's feedback

Since you asked- You're coming across as a potentially annoying Buyer. The Seller might have put you on Ignore after the low ball offer so he won't see any of your other posts. Just a thought.

Yep, multiple posts in the thread, an offer lower than asking and unclear delivery. It happens, the first time I tried to buy a knife from the Ex here I posted a simple "I will take it if you will post, at my cost to Australia". No reply...just sold to someone else. That is the sellers prerogative. In your case you have failed to meet, initially at least, two of his stipulations, price and "US only". If the seller does not wish to work with you there is nothing you can do.

And I am not trying to be a dick, but in that thread you do "appear" (in type) as quite "needy/demanding" and that is about the last thing a seller wants to manage. Beyond those positing you appear mostly in giveaway threads and this one, if you are going to ask people to amend their own stipulation to suit you then you need to build a positive reputation here that will encourage folks to take a chance on you.

Not offence taken. As I said I'm new to using the forum, before I just kinda browsed around. So learning the correct way to behave in the community. I just didn't want to loose out on the knife hence the multiple posts. So the feedback is useful, appreciate it.

Wow. Honestly I would have avoided you too. Go back and read what you posted in his thread. Zero feedback and all that? If you want to buy something's here and stick around suggest you pay for a membership. Then you can pm. Just trying to be helpful.

Thanks for info. Again I was ignorantly unaware of right and wrongs on the forum. Newbie mistakes sorry

^ This! In defense of this seller, you've started a GBU thread about, I would've avoided you too!

You: International buyer, zero feedback, you made an offer lower than the seller's asking price in his sales thread, for a $300+ knife, Edit: & you posted FOUR times in his sales thread:

I would suggest that if you have $300 to spend on a knife, that you invest in and support this forum by buying a $10 basic membership.

Communication is key. You're inability to do so privately, along with the fact that you're using a seller's sales thread, to do make offer's and all of your other communication for that matter...

Is very poor etiquette in my opinion.

Seller's have the right to sell to whomever they want. I suggest that you move on, and find another knife you like.

Yea, I realized my mistakes. Just new to using the forums and trying to get a better idea on what right and wrong. So thanks for the knowledge. Try and pardon my stupidity. Me and the seller have since figured it out, and the knife is on the way. :)

Looks like you were just really excited for this one, congratulations on landing it. Some folks make little effort to try to understand the flow of the site, so kudos for good-naturedly accepting the critique. I hope you enjoy that new blade.
