Ghillie Suit!

Experiment with any material you wish. Jute and burlap just happen to be cheap and natural looking, but you'll find out what works best once you implament it.

As for your gun, cut a small piece of netting that just barely stretches around your barrel and add stuff to it just like your suit. If you have points to tie it off to so it doesn't slide back and forth even better. OR take a strip and wrap it in a spiral pattern around your gun, taping it in an opposite spiral patter, if that makes sense, so there is plenty of netting available, but it is taped securely, then add your stuff to the open netting areas. Remember, break up the pattern, varying lengths will make it less symmetrical looking. There are no perfect shapes, lines, or plains in nature.

Play with it on your gun, I had my entire paintball gun guillied even the hopper, took some figuring out, but it worked, and looked(or didn't look?) great.

Just a note, if you are going to wear this thing for any length of time and laying in wait glue some foam to the elbows and knees. Also think about installing a hydration bladder. carrying a canteen is noisy and has to be completely full or empty. The hydration bladder will help to cool you too since you will be sweating you ass off.
I used a old mechanic's coveralls and took netting and jute and burlap some spray paint (depending on the particular environment dictates colors) some glue and army sleeping pad and made my tree tux.
I took a boonie we netted and burlapped and then sewed it on to the back as well. the hydration was back in the early days of camelback and only had the bladder and basic pack. I simply anchored the corners inside and glued inside. It still holds up. I haven't taken it out in years. I still have it rolled up and attached to my pack. Thing is probably rotted.. lol
Never Forget Nothin

Hey Can Do were you part of 3/15?

I'll definitely be wearing a camel back. I'm not going to make it part of the suit, just put it on underneath.

No, I was not a part of 3-15 (I'm assuming - going by the signature) you're talking about the scientology protest? I stopped in the founding church of scinetology a few weeks ago as a joke. They were very nice but completely crazy. I'd guess that if they're happy, no point in disturbing them - unless of course, they really do destroy peoples' lives. I'll have to do some research.

Bless those Marines.

Amen.

CanDo..not to change the subject...be careful putting a "can" on your paintball gun, just heard of a guy getting reamed real bad for that by the ATF boys....on a brighter note,I have a custom concealment suit that is made for crawling and it is said to hide you from thermo sights!

Can Do was the motto for the 3rd of the 15th Infantry regiment. I don't know anything about the scientology stuff you are talking about.

Oh, sorry! I didn't know anything about 3/15, but a Google search thought that I was talking about a massive protest of scientology. I don't have any military experience, but I'm still considering joining. I know I will always regret it if I dont, but am hesitant because of what I might miss.

remember with all that burlap you are a very large tinder ball, it is very flamable, there are fire proofing products that john plaster refers to in his book. dont go anywhere near a spark in one of these. also if you fall into water it will take you to the bottom rapidly, had a friend that happened to almost drowned. be carefull with the gilie suit.

Just had a thought - whether it is good or bad is not yet tested. Here in New England, there is a brown vine called 'asiatic bittersweet' which is highly invasive and grows everywhere.

http://www.umext.maine.edu/onlinepubs/htmpubs/2506.htm:
Asiatic bittersweet poses a serious threat to other species and to whole habitats due to its aggressive habit of twining around and growing over other vegetation. This plant has a high reproductive rate, long-range dispersal mechanisms, and the ability to root-sucker. The vines can strangle tree and shrub stems. All types of plants, even entire plant communities, can be over-topped and shaded out by the vine’s rapid growth. Nearly pure stands of this vine are sometimes found in affected areas.

It actually works pretty well as a lashing cordage as-is. I might try using it to add bulk to the netting as a semi-permanent solution. I don't know how well it will work, but there's only one way to find out. Any thoughts?

Sorry I'm late guys, but here are a few pics!
