Giant Mouse Knives finally opened with a great first knife! (Anso/Vox)

Thanks, Ram.

I like my Odino but love the new Mouse.

Yes, there are lots of similarities and it's surely made in the same factory. But a different and superior design, IMO.

As you suggest, the Odinos and Kyomis each are well-priced. The Mouse may be on the higher side for a production folder. But the popular Olamic Wayfarers start at the same price as the PVD version of the Mouse and go up.

The Mouse is a limited production and designed by two of the best in the business. I look forward to their next folder project -- and hope that one day they will produce a 3-inch version of a frame lock flipper. Now that would be something.

I am a big fan of BOTH the knife makers that designed the Giant Mouse knives. That is a great looking knife.

By the way, Viper Kyomi in titanium or CF are on sale at GP Knives!

  • CF: $139.95
  • TI: $144.95

Viper Kyomi Titanium with Stonewashed Blade ($144.95 shipped) is closest to Giant Mouse GM1 ($330.80 shipped).

I love my Viper, great quality, design and blade shape, it will continue to be one of my favorite EDCs but the Mouse is on a different level. The ergos on the Mouse are better as well and i'm loving the blade shape. Can't wait till their next blade drops, until then I picked up the fixed blade also. Such an awesome little blade, I love the classy look of the leather pouch but I wish a kydex was available for it as well.

Viper Kyomi is a vast improvement over Odino. Better detent, easy flipper and thumb hole opening, better blade shape, steel lock bar interface and better ergos when holding it. The Kyomi has the lanyard hole / spacer flush with the handle as opposed to raised on Odino. Also, the clip on the Kyomi is pretty flat as opposed to raised on Odino. Viper should've gone straight to Kyomi bypassing Odino. However, they learnt some lessons on the Odino that helped the Kyomi.

I posted a thread on suggestions for my next knife since my Star Tac was stolen, The GM 1 is currently my top choice. Should I go for it or should I go with a viper or another knife listed here? Is the Gm1 worth the extra money over a viper or such?

Exactly! And the Mouse is a great improvement over the Kyomi, IMO they are all three great knives. Just like I really like the Bradley Alias but I think my Sebenza is just more refined.

Man, I am trying not to buy new knives right now, but that little fixed blade is such an amazing package, and for such a low price, I'm having a really hard time resisting. I keep opening this thread every time it pops up, just gorgeous work.

The hell with it, it's only money. Ordered that sweet fixed blade.

I am a sucker - in for a GM1, GMF1, and a couple of shirts - Been along time (years) since I saw a knife that interested me. Thanks for sharing.

Well worth it.

Having just watched a couple of review videos, I am even more excited now. Plus, being a smaller collaboration company, this knife could disappear at any time. I know I'd have been kicking myself if I'd hemmed and hawed around only to decide to buy it and they're suddenly gone. So, yes. I am looking forward to it!

GMP1 would have been nice but to be honest I like the blue accents on the GM1 - already pacing waiting for delivery.

I'm really torn between the GM1 and a Grayman Satu. Both great knives, but also very different. I do a lot of heavy cutting on an almost daily basis and I can't figure out which one I want more. :(

Well, if it means anything to you, the GM1 is ultimately a limited knife. Only 400 will be made (300 of one, 100 of another color which are now sold out). They said that once these are gone, they're onto making something else.

That would be a tough choice - Satu is a big knife - for where I work now I have to go with the less scary option - the Satu in my mind would be the one to go with for daily heavy cutting, but I have never held or cut with a GM1 so, that is based only having owned a Satu and loving it for tough chores. I went for the GM1 for the design aspect - Jens' designs have always amazed me. Good luck with your hunt.

Thats what I'm thinking. I may get the GM1 now and the Satu in another month or two. But then what will they make next I may like that more but I wont know until later.

I expect Giant Mouse to have flippers with M390 later this year. The reason is that Viper has two upcoming models with flippers and both have M390 for the first time. These are Italo and Fortis.

I prefer the design of the Giant Mouse to any of the Vipers. None of the Vipers strike me as all that Mouselike, with its broad, flat blade and thin handle that is easy to grasp and carry.

The Vipers are certainly better priced -- particularly with that nice sale on the Kyomi in Ti and CF.

In comparison, the handle of the forthcoming Fortis is MUCH thinner than that of the Kyomi, as the Viper guy proudly shows off one minute into this vid:
