Giant Mouse Knives finally opened with a great first knife! (Anso/Vox)

I prefer the design of the Giant Mouse to any of the Vipers. None of the Vipers strike me as all that Mouselike, with its broad, flat blade and thin handle that is easy to grasp and carry.

The Vipers are certainly better priced -- particularly with that nice sale on the Kyomi in Ti and CF.

In comparison, the handle of the forthcoming Fortis is MUCH thinner than that of the Kyomi, as the Viper guy proudly shows off one minute into this vid:

Have you personally compared GM1/GMP1 to Kyomi or just to Odino? The reason I say that is because Kyomi definitely feels better in the hand than Odino due to the recessed lanyard hole and clip. Kyomi & Odino both have a handle thickness of 0.51 compared to 0.433" on GM1/GMP1. Closed GM1/GMP1 looks wider albeit a little thinner than Kyomi. I like folders to be as thin and narrow when closed for the pocket. Personally, I prefer narrow to thin for more pocket space.

Ultimately, it's a personal choice and ergos somewhat subjective.

Fortis should be a popular model. It looks noticeably thinner and narrower than any other folder mentioned in this post. No handle thickness data yet. Apparently, due in October/November 2016.

I was nearly seduced by that great sale price on the Kyomi but realized just in time that it's more of an Odino with flipper than it is a Mouse.

Heritage aside, neither design compares with the Mouse, IMO. Good prices, but both are too thick for my taste since I've acquired a Mouse. I'd trade both for one Mouse.

I do look forward to the Fortis and an improved design over these other Vipers.

I would certainly not characterize Kyomi as an Odino with a flipper tab. With Kyomi they addressed a lot of the issues with Odino only one of which was the flipper tab. They put a stronger detent, steel lock bar interface, better blade shape, better thumb hole, better handle ergos including recessing the lanyard hole and clip.

I caution against overly comparing the design of either Viper with the design of the Mouse.

While the design elements of Giant Mouse GM1/GMP1 are different than Viper Kyomi once you look at their feature sets, materials (same titanium and steel), anodizing of clip/backspacer, bearings flipper, steel lock bar interface and quality you wonder why these two very similar production folders have such a wide disparity in price -- Viper Kyomi Titanium with Stonewashed Blade at $144.95 shipped vs. Giant Mouse GM1 at $330.80 shipped. Of course, limiting the production allows you to charge a premium. Whether that premium is justified is what the market will eventually tell.

The issue I have with Giant Mouse is that their knives can only be purchased through them and as they state:

"GiantMouse cannot accept returns for refunds if the customer has "buyer's remorse" after receiving their order, or decides he/she does not like the knife."

^The liberal return policy of some retailers is a double edged sword (sorry about the pun). Yes it does insure complete customer satisfaction but on the other hand I've received a knife in the past that I'm sure was a return. All the parts and paperwork was there but upon close inspection of the pivot screw I could see it had been loosened and re-tightened with the wrong size driver. Fortunately the knife worked fine and I really liked it but I can see how things could have gone wrong necessitating the hassle of a warranty claim.

As a personal observation; I find my GMF1 to be superbly made, beautifully designed and highly usable given it's intended purpose. Like others have commented however, I'll be making a Kydex sheath as I'm in the tropics and would like the ease of maintenance.

I will be adding a Giant Mouse folder to my collection soon.

Absolutely agree with you, Ram, about price and materials being the same or similar.

Should a better, or different, design be more costly?

I think about that anytime I watch a movie with a bad script -- how much more could it have cost to pay for a good script?

It all boils down to the buyer. I for one enjoy the quality and design that goes into high end knives. I'm willing to spent the extra money on Mouse knives, Hinderers and CRKs. Knives can be purchased with similar materials for far cheaper and that's perfectly fine for others.

I have a Viper Odino and it's a great knife. I also had Viper Kyomi. The Giant Mouse folders are far superior in my opinion and well worth their asking price. The details on the GM1 and GMP1 are so nice and far surpass anything on the two Vipers. A lot of thought went into the GM designs.

It was absolutely worth it. Pic reuse from the newest acquisition thread:

One thing to add here. I originally ordered a GM1 two weeks ago and when it arrived there was a bit of up and down play due the detent. The same day I sent an e-mail and received a quick reply back with instructions for the return. Once the return was received by Giant Mouse an hour later they sent me an apology letter for it not being perfect and issued a replacement that arrived 2 days after that. The replacement that I received is perfect!! Now this is what customer service is all about!

The first one I received had a little problem too and I experienced the same great service. Top notch for sure!

Any chance one of you guys could post a picture of that little fixed blade in hand, with kind of an open grip (along with a rough estimate of hand/glove size)? I just discovered these, and I'm loving them, but my hands are a bit on the small side and I'm not certain that highly sculpted handle would find all my fingers in the right place. Any thoughts from those that have one? If this is yet another knife that fits only giant bear-paw hands I'd rather know before I order one.
Cheers. And thanks for making me aware of these

I have a GMF1 incoming. Although I like the leather sheath I think Giant Mouse should also sell a kydex sheath for it.
