GiantMouse GM3...SEXY!

It's here!

Excuse the picture quality, I'm at work so just snapped a quick pic.

Initial thoughts:
  • Has a very nice feel in hand
  • Detent is a bit on the stronger side but not bad, nice and snappy opening
  • Not quite as a smooth as my Liong Mah Warrior One V2
  • Love look of the stonewashed handle
  • I like the nail nick, makes it easier to use in more situations
  • Feels like it's of similar build quality to the Warrior One V2
  • Size is good but I'd love to see a smaller version as well
As of right now I'm extremely pleased. It feels like this one is a keeper for sure.

Glad you like it! I have had mine for almost a week now. I took it apart and cleaned it up and now it is MUCH smoother.

since there's a good amount of people on here that own one, might as well ask, has anyone cut themselves or poked themselves on the closed blade or tip?

during Nick Shabazz's unboxing, he made an observation that the tip looks like it might stick out just a little too far and the closed blade sticks pretty far out on the bottom. the next day a guy on reddit posted a poking injury. wondering if anyone else has had a problem

Nope. However, if I really try to, I am sure I would be able to get stuck by the tip. I mean, pushing my finger down in the slot and then sliding it towards the front. I choose not to do this...

I'm still new to knife collecting, haven't braved taking any apart yet but that's something I intend to do in the near future.

I didn't notice the tip being an issue, but I saw the Nick video and checked the blade from the back of the frame when its closed. I found I would have to push the meat of my finger into the frame when its closed to cut myself. I'm sure I could if I tried, but I can't see it being an accidental type thing. but someone will manage to I'm sure. lol.

These are my thoughts also. I've actually sat around fiddling with the knife in such a way after Nick made note of it, and although I can just barely feel the tip if I press hard, I don't think it could cut you under normal circumstances.

I gave it my best college try, and nope, I couldn't cut myself.

Basically, it's a non-issue.

Regards,
Adam

Does anyone know if there will be any more variations of this model? I've been following this thread and am having trouble resisting. I should not have hesitated on the bronze model! Can't believe how quickly those went  (gives me Northwoods flashbacks!). Hackenslash, thank you for maintaining your thread and tactfully avoiding a digression to Reddit-ude.

non-issue to everyone but the guy who actually already poked himself haha.

I personally believe knives should be made with a 0% chance of this happening, but if it's highly unlikely, i guess it's a non-issue to most. if it happened to me, that knife would be out of my collection. not that i don't already cut myself all the time anyway, but, i much prefer my cuts being 100% my fault, rather than 99% my fault and 1% design.

I'm still considering the knife, but i think i'm going to wait it out to see how second hand prices pan out in the months to come

From my understanding of how GiantMouse works is they only make 400 total (300 standard + 100 pirate) of any one design.

That's my understanding also. And once they sell out a model, they retire that model. So I doubt they'll be offering additional versions of this knife. You can still get GM2's and GM3's at their website. For a GMP3 you're probably stuck with secondary market.

Bearing pivots are just as "debris free" as any washer knife. Internal stop pins should be fine. $250 is still a bit much for something from GM.

You don't have a clue how market value works. GM is a small company making limited runs of a certain good. They have flexibility to choose a price that meets the market they are entering. Since no one else is making a knife in this design and at these quantities, they can charge whatever they want. Considering it's still cheaper then something from CRK who produce far more knives each year, I fail to see how they are trying to rip off customers.

Congrats Bro! Quite the reversal from thinking you were shut out due to international shipping to having your pick of either knife!

Why not keep both?;)

Trust me, I've thought of that and if I come into a windfall over the next few days I will for sure but these were unplanned for purchases that I have to pay back on my cc.

I've learned to plan for unplanned-for knife purchases, lol.
I just started knife collecting this year but I'm going to have to learn that lesson myself.

And I still have the 2017 Forum Knife, Massdrop/Ferrum Forge/WE Falcon & Crux yet to arrive.

Also have had the ZT 0566CF, Sage 2, Carter Prime and Spider Monkey

I’m in sort of the same spot as elnero - I wasn’t going to buy one, snagged a GM3, and now I really think I’d like the GMP3 even better.

If any of you have one you’d like to swap/sell let me know!

Cheers,

~M
