GiantMouse GM3...SEXY!

I was way too late to the party to score the GMP3; but would have jumped on it. The weight is listed at 4.8 oz; which (to me, at least) falls well short of a "very heavy" label. Heck, my spider monkey is listed at 5.4 oz, and I don't even notice that in my pocket.

GMP3 arrived a few minutes ago. What a fantastic knife! Being heavier than the GM3 it is a bit more noticeable in the pocket but I don't think it's too much so, plus I tend to prefer a little more weight in hand. Still trying to figure if there's a way I can work it to keep both but the GMP3 won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

At work reading this thread... thinking it's lacking in images...

I have a GMP3 with me today. It fits good it hanksbyhank pocket caddy.

Well, I snagged one in the exchange. Time to see if I can get over the nail nick.

Countdown to Tuesday is on!

If I were you, I'd flip the clip and pivot bushing and go Grey/Blue and Bronze/Bronze...:)
I actually love the look of the blue/bronze. It's what I originally wanted and didn't think I'd ever have a chance to get.

Both are really great in their own ways though. The lighter titanium does feel a little better in hand but the extra weight of the bronze doesn't bother me. The GM3 has a stronger detent so it snaps right out but feels a little gritty when closing it. The GMP3 is really smooth and it more glides out when opening if that makes sense.

That liner lock looks to be as inaccessible as the Gayle Bradleys. If so, that is a deal killer for me. Hated that on the GB's.

The GMP3 liner lock isn't hard for me to get access to. And I have big thumbs. However, I would not say it is the most accessible liner lock knife I have ever held. :)

The liner lock hasn't been an issue for me.

On another note. As I was watching a movie last night I was playing around with both of them. The grittiness in the GM3 is now almost nonexistent but strangely, now there's some in the GMP3.

EDIT: Hmmm, GMP3 seems fine again this morning.

So, you guys are saying after a couple of dozen closes your thumb is not irritated? I'm not talking about about a couple of times here or there to cut something.

I tend to sit and open and close my little joys hundreds of times. I'm ADD that way.

I have and like a GB1 but know what you mean about a thumb pincher. The GM3 is much more accessible. I tend to play with knives too and haven't noticed any thumb shredding with my GM3.

Alrighty, mine came today. First off, I'm still a nail nick hater. Not giving that up so easily. That said, this is a great knife. Possibly the best from Giant Mouse so far. Tolerances, sharpening, flipping action, lockup --- all fantastic on this one. It's gonna be getting some carry for the next few days.

I like the bronze accents and enjoy the change from the blue on the GM1 and 2. But I do wish they were perhaps, "more bronze" -- a little darker or more distinctive. In lots of light they kinda just blend in. Anyways, here's some pics of mine with some size comparisons that I found interesting:

The Zero Tolerance 0450 really might be one of the closest competitors for this knife in terms of size, weight, and shape. Obviously there is a materials difference from S35VN to M390, but the price difference is pretty whopping as well. Anyways, definitely a very striking comparison:

And here it is with it's one remaining GM brother. I kind of hate that I sold the GM1 before having a change to take a pic with all three, but such is life. I utterly love the bowie blade and the handle on the GM2 and it sure does make a great contrast to the slim GM3. Interestingly, with the smaller finger choil, the GM3 actually packs just a bit more cutting edge:

I also thought the comparison with the Benchmade 781 Anthem was a pretty interesting one. The GM3 is one of the few knives in this size range that is actually smaller and ligher than that Anthem. And both share the bronze theme:

Anyways, I'm glad I got one of these at a deal on the exchange and I'm hoping some more time spent with this one will make me forget my nail nick hatred. :D

On this point, now that I've handled one and done a fair bit of opening and closing. The liner lock access on this knife is pretty dang close to perfect. One could easily flick the knife open and closed for hours without any of the dreaded finger soreness. It's better than the GM2 in this regard.
