Girlfriend Knife

So, first knife for a girlfriend, to get her into knives. Ladybug, Dragonfly, or Cara Cara? I can't make up my mind, and I don't know what size she'd be comfortable with. Anybody with experience with these knives, or with giving a girlfriend her first knife, please help! :confused:

I second this one. Don't know if your lil Ms. is like mine, but my wife would be offended if I didnt get her a "normal" sized knife or if I got anything in pink.
 
Last one i gave to a girl was a svord peasant knife...pink slabs....$20....she liked it better than the CASE knives i offered her...no chance of breaking a nail ya know?.....FES

...I got the worst possible answer: "Just pick the one you think I'll like." I've never seen her show a preference for any kind of knife or detail on a knife. Once she called my Kershaw Leek "cute".
 
@festerfromnzed, she's not exactly the "break a nail" type of girl, but a Peasant is a good idea. I kinda want to go with the Ladybug, which is the usual knife to give a girlfriend, from what I've heard. I've never handled one, though, so I don't know about their toughness or usefulness. It seems like an awfully small knife.
 
The new lady bug with the etched stainless is nice. But I gave my girlfriend a Spyderco Purple FFG Endura and she loved it. I have a Benchmade 530 in blue handles and S30v steel waiting for her for our 2 year anniversary now though :).
 
From the limited experience I have with this, I've found that multi-tools work out well. Something like a Micra or a Squirt, maybe a juice or something. Gives them a knife plus other things they might use, so they'll actually carry it instead of leaving it at home. The bright, eye-catching colors that those
come in are also a plus; girls tend to like pretty things, and it'll make it easier to spot if she keeps it in a purse.
 
I am concerned that you said "a Girlfriend" what knives do your other girlfriends have? :D Just messin with you! Spyderco's are everywhere and popular with the ladies, just walk by the knife counter and ask her what she likes..

cara cara 2 in G10 is awesome. just make sure she isnt crazy cuz she might end up stabbing you with it...
 
I don't get the mini knives or the pink frilly crap. Not all girls like tiny and cute. Ask her. If she leaves it up to you go buy the biggest cheap machete you can find as a joke. :)

Remember in "The Last Mohican" when the old injun said (about white folks) - "Do not try to understand them and do not try to make them understand you. For they are a breed apart and make no sense"? Well, I think his statement also applies to women :-( you're best bet is to take her to a gun show and let her handle everything. My wife loves the red Kershaw Blur I got her, but hates the pink Izula. They're tricky to figure out, good luck.
