Girlfriend Knife

I agree with the idea of taking her to a show or shop where she can handle the knives then decide which one she likes. I say this from experience and a girlfriend who loves the outdoors but not every knife I have gotten her.

Remember in "The Last Mohican" when the old injun said (about white folks) - "Do not try to understand them and do not try to make them understand you. For they are a breed apart and make no sense"? Well, I think his statement also applies to women :-( you're best bet is to take her to a gun show and let her handle everything. My wife loves the red Kershaw Blur I got her, but hates the pink Izula. They're tricky to figure out, good luck.

Injun? Really?

I gave my friend an orange Opinel size 7. Totally non-tactical, good for food, in short practical and it gets used a lot.

I'd get a victorinox classic in alox. Tough knife with multiple tools. If she isn't into knives she will likely find this useful and it fits great on the keys. Don't worry about a knife you would like. If she likes and uses the classic you can get something larger and better in the future

Yea, that's actually my login on a lot of things - injunwil. Being called an Injun never bothered me. Then again, I thought t was hilarious when my brother in law referred to me as a "wagon burner" I guess red skin is thick :-)

I wish there was a "like" button on here. "wagon burner" that is funny, good job not being offended. Ive always liked a man who can take a joke

My wife liked the Purple Blur I showed here, but they havent made any for some time:(

Just recently gave my wife a KaBar Bob Dozier folder (yes it is the pink one). It is the first knife I have ever tried to get her to carry that she has actually carried. She isn't opposed to knives she would just rather have me carry it and then she can ask to use it :) Go figure. Anyway it's a nice thin solid knife.

Huauqui.

Way back when she was still my girlfriend, I got my ex a simple swiss army knife to remember me by when I went off to college. Thats always a good place to start. I got another girl who was just a friend a leek and she liked it because of the sleek lines and such. Both of them would have punched me if I got them something pink.

10-4!
then sell them and put the money towards a mini Yuna..Love that red..

My advice is to cheapskate out on her in case she breaks up with you for a real man with a Harley and wearing a Randall. The first knife that comes to mind is the Kershaw Half Ton. She'll like the color and wrench-shaped pocket clip. I bought my nieces Gerber Fatties and they love them. The Half Ton is similar to the Fatty but in "pretty" red and is made by reds.

I got my girl a Ladybug she loves and uses it lol when she first brought it into work she told me everyone was green with envy over her awesome box opener.
Be ready to sharpen it for her tho.

what about a spiderco poliwog or a crkt gekotta? tiny yes, but i've noticed them to be very... female friendly. also the gekotta has an easy linerlock to use with nails.

Thanks for all your help, guys. In the end I went with the Svord Peasant, in red. Should be here sometime next week.

Might go with a Delica for X-mas, if she finds the Peasant useful.

my wife carries a kershaw chive. picked it out because it fit in her pocket without being bulky. it's slim, sharp, and easy to open with the flipper mechanism. she took the pocket clip off so it's even slimmer.

Another vote for the Kershaw chive. She wasn't interested in a knife until she saw it came in a rainbow coating.

Peasant is a nice choice from what I've read here, very inexpensive. My wife carries my black coating removed Cold Steel Recon 1 with a plain edge.

I have bought an orange UKPK for myself to carry but got confiscated by my wife the same day. She actually carries it ever since and I am very proud of that... so UKPK would be my recommendation. Delica is also great choice and you can choose between some nice handle colors which I guess is important for women :)
SAK also comes in colors and you can't go wrong with one right!?

Unless your wife really likes pink, I don't recommend a pink knife.

In my opinion, a spyderco delica is both a great and safe choice. A buck vantage is also a very good all around knife.

Got my wife a dragonfly tatoo and she was thrilled. She shows it off sometimes (she is trying to learn to open it 1 handed). I just chuckle and got a new BKR2!!
