Fulloflead, agreed, it can get rather annoying once it becomes more than casual joking around. I have not had a problem with that on Bladeforums though, their are excelent people here, easy going and always willing to help out anyone who may need asistence (myself included).
 
I think it's fine to have photos of women and knives, but it doesn't do anything for me. The whole "girls with ____" (guns, knives, high-heels, cigars, power tools, carburetors) catagory is something I'll skip.

Plus, knife-wielding chicks in the bedroom is a little scary. :eek:

Bottom line is,..... is that "Sex Sells", and no matter what, I honestly don't think that advertising attratctive women grasping knives can hurt.
It can even shed a whole new light on a particular knife, and maybe even attract a whole new crowd.

You never know, maybe "Blade Pornography" is the way of the future......
You can lust over the knives, or you can lust over the girls,.... or for those that like to multi task, you can have a "menage a' troi" with both.

I know that I personally looked at those knives alot longer than I probably would have if they were by themselves,.... I also think that the knives looked somewhat more interesting, although a great close-up "centrefold" showing the girl...... I mean, knife... in detail would be a great addition, in my opinion anyway... :D

Or maybe I'm just perverted ? *shrugs*
I do know that Jennifer Garner in Elektra, gave the traditional Okinawan Sai's a whole new look, and I for one love attractive women that know how to use their weapons.
Give me a couple of hot *(Asian)* females grasping Katana's anyday. :p

When I think of girls with knives, I think either Lorena Bobbitt or Elvira. Personally, I prefer Elvira.

nothing wrong with using females to sell anything imho, heck everyone does it, doesnt bother me a bit, knives or not lol.

She was one of my MAJOR crushes as a kid, I still to this day have a thing for "goth" girls thanks to Cassandra (Elvira) Peterson!
 
Just from a professional point of view....
Using young ladies in ads is done everyday. Open any newspaper or magazine and you will see examples. What is published in the average newspaper today would have resulted in arrests being made back in the 50's.
I like Brad's work and take no offense with having young ladies in the photographs. However my only problem is with the photographs themselves. They appear that you had some girls posing for another ad, then as an after thought, asked them to hold a knife for a shot. As in any good promo piece, fit the setting to the product.

Thats pretty well put. Male, female...I mean people in general are in ads and commercials, thats how it is. Nothing wrong with that. You are right, the ads do not fit knives at all...just cheap 'sexy underwear' ads...oh and here, hold this knife for me...cheesy.

I had to go back and look a second or third time before I noticed there were knives in the pictures. ;)
 
If I want to look at Knives I want good shots of the KNIVES so I can get an idea how they are by being able to see the finer details.

That being said, I have nothing against a pretty woman holding a knife as a advertisement, just if I am truly interested in the knife all she does is get in the way.
