Got my m4 Ritter today and love it already!!! When I opened it I imediatly shreaded the box it was shipped in and to my amazment still shaving sharp!! I love the stonewashed DLC blade , it is pretty and not a scratch from the cardboard at all!! I can't wait to really put this thing to work!! I have a feeling it's gonna be a keeper!!

i would love to get one i'm just not sure of how it will hold up to rust.. i know it's not stainless.. other then that m4 is a beast

How do you know if you don't have any? :o:p

As long as you are not dunking M4 into salt water it holds up fine. I have cut a lot of foods which are normally rough on carbon steels and it hasn't shown the first mark. I have been to the coast a bunch and on boats out on the salt water many times and I can't see anything but shiny metal on my M4. Go to the Spyderco sub-forum and check out some of the Gayle Bradley posts since it is uncoated M4. Many look perfect and even a vinegar bath doesn't have near the patina that O1 or 1XXX steels get.

With that DLC coating there shouldn't be any issue with rust unless it is put into chemicals or left in a wet place for extended periods of time. I think when more people get their hands on M4 and see how sharp and how easy it is to get sharp, these are going to be really popular. I'm actually surprised they aren't sold out yet.

Sharp isn't even the right word for this this!! A few passes on the sharpmake and this thing is laser beam sharp :)

It is pretty amazing stuff. ZDP189 will get as sharp for me but not as easily as M4. If you sharpen it just like your other blades it seems like it gets twice as sharp in the same time with the same equipment and technique.

I was just pulling your leg. You will love it when you get it and it doesn't rust nearly as easily as most other carbon steels. Just wipe it off when you are done cutting something and it should be fine.

Benchmade already made some 710 knives in M4, and their Gaucho and 906 AFCK as well.

I'm happy enough my Spyderco Bradley in this steel.

Congrats to ar0matic decay on his new wundersteel score and congrats to FlaMtnBiker on his engagement!

Thanks! I think? :foot::D

how is the strength of the handle though.. some people have said it feels very cheap
It may feel cheap, but it's very strong. You really have to work on it in order to cause any damage. I haven't heard any reports of Grip handles failing and they've been in production for a long time.
