Hi Everyone.

It's been awhile since I have held a giveaway - and I apologise as I feel quite selfish for this.

Ok, I dont think there's really a need to go into detail about just how magnificent the Porch is - Traditionals would have to be a type of Sanctuary in the forever darkening world of the internet, I honestly actually feel this when I "come back home" here, anyway I have taken a bit of time to wonder what type of knife I want to gift here - I wanted it to be kind-of precious- to you I mean, as to me its a very very precious knife - and this is why I have chosen it.

I am lucky enough to have loved these knives to own two - one to use and one to queen, this knife has been used, it has been sharpened- but the blade is 100% full, and the knife is almost MINT as you can see.

I LOVE the photo competitions that I have held in the past, and would love to try to replicate the spirit back into this one.

Charlies knives, his whole everything that he gives to so so many, his passion that has re-awoken to a higher level the appreciation of the TRUE Traditional - Working along-side with such fantastic Cutlers who share such important values and morals.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE COMPETING FOR:
Charlie not only produced this magnificent Spear-Point that in it's own right is collectible-but this small edition is something else that touched me, the scales came from his very own Dad's Gunstock made of Walnut, to me this just could not be more of a Traditional knife - and if you are like me and just simply love the whole essence of how the very early Japanese made their swords with such massive spirit - you have the very best modern version of this type of knife that has true meaning within here in front of you.

I apologise if this sounds silly - but- this is my honest feelings, and if they sound silly - please ignore this part :o

Rules:
People who contribute to traditionals on a regular basis - lets say 30 posts before this date.

Photo must be a new one, one that that has a Traditional knife only - we usually see some fantastic photo's of our loved pets, hiking spots, Family - you get the feeling so if you want - give it a go.

The good guys who always mention "not an entry" will automatically be included and therefore will need to follow up with a photo - or a shame list WILL ME MADE :D

My lovely Sue will be the judge - and I will give this a month from today before we do the numbers in the hat trick, that should give us busy people time to think and to put to action the photo.

This is to say Thank you to absolutely everyone who supports me, thank you to the people who have looked after our mate Bob ( who I hope is feeling better everyday ), Thanks to Bladefroums, and the thankless task the the mods Gary and Frank do, To our knife makers who inspire us, to our collectors who inspire us,Thank you everyone and good luck :thumbup:

WAIT ...WAIT... WAIT.... Stop the clock!!!:eek: Paul ( pmew ) has come in with another lovely knife - but I will let Paul do the talking - please see post #20 AND post #23...

Here is Paul's AWESOME input to this giveaway - ( sorry Paul - only one loaded? ) - now check this knife out!!! It's a stunniner - and as we know Northfield will only be the best of quality that you can buy....Paul -THANK YOU on behalf of Traditionals kind Sir.

DUNCAN! Amazing generosity on your part my friend! The gunstock walnut TCs are really the essence of Charlie's passion for his knives IMO. Just a stunning example you've got there. If I do end up chosen I will pass it on to someone more deserving. :D;)

I just took this photo today and was contemplating where to post it. I was thinking of maybe bumping your "MAGNIFICENT HJ'S" thread, the masterpiece that it is, but I think this thread will do just fine. :cool:

To help start your GAW off right, here is a photo of two that I know are very dear to you sir, in ebony and ivory:

That knife is absolutely beautiful, this is a super generous giveaway! I really appreciate it, thanks.

I'll have to take a picture with a little more preparation than bouncing the flash off the ceiling and setting the knife on a book, I'll post a photo in a few days.

Good luck to everyone, I'm looking forward to some awesome photos. Nice start to the contest, philllll, those are some beauties.

Here's my '15 Washington Jack - thanks for the chance to win a great looking knife!

Very great gesture of you Duncan, I'll have to ponder my shot for this one. I agree with your ending statement completely.
I passed my gunstock walnut clip on to a friend but the meaning behind that knife from Charlie has always stuck as one of my favourite stories. Good luck to everyone.

Edit::
Just went on a walk with the pup to our usual hiking spot and snapped this. The very last production knife I've had on my list and it came from a good friend. Took a year to find and completely worth it.
As of 11/14/16, it is currently -3°f out with -23° wind chill when the photo was taken..:cool: (my fingers were numb but the long-pull helped)

What an amazing and generous gesture Duncan! You're definitely one of those that keeps me coming back to the porch. I'm lucky enough to have one of the gunstock barlows, it's one of my most prized possessions. Good luck to everyone who enters, this is an amazing chance to grab a perfect piece of traditional history and a part of Charlie's legacy 👍🏼

Not an entry.
Very generous gesture, Duncan. I am fortunate enough to have one of the original gunstock walnut sheepsfoot Charlows. Thanks to Charlie for expanding my vocabulary ("chatoyance") with the release of his beautiful Palo Santo sheepsfoot Charlows:

Incredible contest, thank you so much for the chance! Here is a picture of one of my favorite knives, my one and only waynorth SFO, the Amber Jigged Bone rope knife.

Very nice of you to do so sir! Here's a shot of a lovely Case lockback that was given to me a while back for a deed I did that didn't need any thing given back, but, he did ;) Thanks Josh, aka Rockon75, sir for this, I have given the bolsters a brushed finish, easier to maintain whilst carrying in the pocket with this and that;

Amazing giveaway!

I saw the ice on the pond, and it reminded me of my scratted bone.

Edit - I was so excited to get my entry in that I neglected to THANK the both of you for your incredible generosity. I have never wanted to win a giveaway more. You have inspired me to hold a giveaway of my own once the right subject comes along.

Duncan, what a WONDERFUL GAW:cool::thumbup:

Of all the TC's the story behind the Walnut is most meaningful to me.

My picture doesn't do justice to this special knife. It filled the spot of a treasured Barlow gone lost until a replacement was found and then came back to carry on faithfully;)

Some excellent photos so far! Here's my entry (might end up changing it at some point):
