Prosperity to you in the coming 2026 BF!

Busse has caught my eye. I can’t quite explain why, but something about these knives speak to me. I’ve shied away from high end fixed blades historically—it is an intimidating side of the collector’s game.

For the Busse pros, would you give me a short rundown of why these knives speak to you? Why are they always coming up as “the best?”

Let me hear from some contrarians too if there are any.

Beyond studying these blades for myself, I want to hear what makes them great from the folks who have the wisdom.

Final question: what’s the first Busse you would reccomend as a point of entry?

Thanks,
John

I wasn't the biggest fan personally.

Their secondary edges were pretty obtuse, which made them not very good at cutting things, and I didn't find infi to have very good edge retention. I was definitely more impressed with their SR101 than infi.

Order wise, I placed 4 orders with Busse:
On two orders they gave me the wrong tracking number initially. On one order the blade came with light marring, which I would have been fine with if the knife had cost a lot less than it did, and on one order they didn't realize I had placed it until several months later when I asked why my order hadn't shipped yet.

Credit where credit is due, they do have some of the coolest looking designs out there, but I also think that's mostly what you're paying for: cool looks.

But that's just me. I'm sure others have had more positive experiences than I have.

First and Favorite.....TGLB.
People buy Busse blades to dig holes in asphalt and to break open rocks to see what's inside.
INFI laughs at you when you get tired of swinging it into logs...it just wants more.
There is definitely a reason "BUSSE" pops up when you Google the "best"......cuz it is. .......Period.
Hope this helps.

Different tools for different jobs. I have some high end folding/ pocket knives for odd and ends. I have several high end kitchen knives. They will easily out slice a busse on veggies, meat, produce etc. but would chip easily on a small piece of bone. If I was going to war or needed a camp knife, I feel busse would be my choice. Very tough. You can dig a hole, cut down a tree, baton kindling, field dress a hunt. The steel and heat treat hit the nice middle ground between edge retention and toughness for hard use. Sure other knives will hold an edge longer, some can get much sharper, but for hard use, they check the boxes.

Do a bacon fast and study the riddle of steel, the book of five rings and the Battle of Alamo. After sufficient study and meditation, you will have your answer.

Find an author to put it together and I'll jump in on the pre-order of the book. #ImmaBusseDummyToo.

The two I'd recommend first are the ones available right now.

Boss hog badger and and sykco 6 inch chef.

Also the mini mean street and radioactive meaner street, as well as GW2

Overall, if I was starting out, the badger would be my choice. It's basically a perfect larger knife that can take on anything without being over the top by Busse standards. It is over the top by any knife standard.

It should not conflict with any other blades, as not much is made in that category.

Chef knife is self explanatory, you will use the crap out of it, more than other blades, and im nkt sure how long it's going to be available.

If you want to keep it smaller I'd go for either of mean streets or GW2. It's a more conventional size, that you can edc and deal with more delicate dextrose tasks. If you get the boss badger, id definitely pair it with a smaller mean street. There is a video of kt cutting rope for close to 2 hours in one take. Great knife, I so want to get one but I have custom GW2 that I love.

Honorable mention:

TG Nano. It's a fighter, and coss guard kinda gets in a way of choking up. But the blade length is perfect. I prefer it to a bigger tgulb. It would be my number 1 recommended if the boss badger was not around.

Magnum Outlaw. This thing is a beast, you want scary stupid fun, go for it. It's going to be the most fun you can buy. Forget convince of carry, think about chopping...chopping anything and everything, you will gladly suffer the weight penalty just so you can destroy anything. You must have a .32 blade if you are buying ine for pure fun.

Stuff only available on second hand market at reasonable prices:

Badgers, any and all. Do it all knives. Practical and indestructible.

Park ranger such an underrated knife.

Jacks...Just awesome.

Basic series. Comfy choppers.

Battle mistresses...iconic.

Watching Darryl survive the Zombie Apocalypse with the OG Team Gemini sold me on a "do all" fixed blade. He made arrows for his crossbow, dressed squirrel, stabbed zombies in the head, pryed open doors and cabinets, and among many other things. Although just a show...it encouraged me to search for the best survival knife in the world. And that is when I found Busse. I have searched no more. . . .After Thousands of dollars invested, I still have
NO REGRETS

Busse's warranty is somewhat better than average, if that sort of thing matters to you:

Wild Warranty Claims? . . . . We've Had A Few. . .

One of them was so wild, we made a full page ad out of it for Blade Magazine.

The customer was splitting bullets on his knife's edge. He was doing pretty good until he started shooting low!

We have changed the customer's name but this is the exact wording from our correspondence.

Here are close-ups of the knife handle and letter. . .

Here's a close-up of the blade. He had several good shots at the blade! 👍

Let's Drink! 👍

Find me another Blade Company that puts their customers through an induction process? Brother.....Busse Combat has proven to tons of customers and dedicated members here that they Stand behind the products they provide. Take time, go back and READ a bunch of the information in this forum. Take from it what you will, but I personally have never experienced another Company doing the things they do for their valued customers. I've been here long enough to earn the name ZombieHog from The crew at the Shack. In other words my friend, us HOGS alone will school you enough to earn respect that I really do not see any where else....no disrespect to any other company.....I'm just drawn here because of the comrades I've gained over the years.
BUSSE KNIFE GROUP.......NUFF SAID
I hope any of my blabber helped John.
